If there's one thing we do well here at GLAMOUR UK, it's shopping. Sure, browsing the best online stores (be they high-street or designer) is sort of part of the job, but outside of advising you on what to buy, we also like to treat ourselves.
That said, 2024 has given us a new lease of life when it comes to honing our fashion collections, and many of us are looking to make fewer ‘small’ purchases – the ones that don't feel like a big deal at the time but that certainly add up when you look back at your bank statement – and invest in things we know we'll see a better return from instead.
From trend-led buys we can't get off our minds to the classic pieces that'll help solidify our capsule wardrobes, this is everything the GLAMOUR editors are shopping in 2024.

It feels like spring is on the way, so, with my head keen to exit winter thinking and start afresh, I'm all for cleaning out my wardrobe and upgrading some of my basic staples – so blazers, jeans, T-shirts, boots etc. I'm also a jewellery magpie at the moment and I love eyeing people's choices when I meet them, whether they choose to go for statement or understated pieces. I'm feeling the quiet luxury movement currently, so I'm lusting after some new low-key luxe pieces – such as this Dior bracelet I have loved for a while.

I'm not really a ‘handbag girl’ – how people spend thousands of pounds on what is essentially a portable storage unit for your day-to-day crap I'll never know. The only brand that's made me fall in love with bags is COS. Their shapes and texture always add interest to an outfit, and this architectural, scrunched-effect one is no different – it'll look so good with loose jeans, a plain white tee and an oversized black blazer. They also have it a buttery cream shade that I've got my eye on too. Plus, I'm almost 32 and disappointingly I think that's a grown-up by anyone's standards, which means it's time to stop re-buying multi-packs of gold hoops on the high street and invest in a decent pair of real gold hoops that won't oxidise or discolour. Mejuri is my go-to brand for timeless forever jewellery.

I've slowly been swapping out my costume jewellery for pieces that will stand the test of time over the past few years – and next on my list is a sweet pinky ring in gold, to add to my mixed-metal stacks. Mejuri is my ultimate for low-key luxe at a midi price point, and I love how slim this silhouette is. I'm jumping on the 'stealth wealth' bandwagon with my next buy, with Toteme's if-you-know-you-know leather belt. High-waisted trousers are practically my uniform – be it jeans or linen trousers in summer – but I'm sorely missing a waist-cincher to finish off the look. Since I'm trying to steer away from passing trends, the subtle contrast stitch on this number feels timeless.

I’m in a 70s state of mind at the moment, so everything I’m lusting after seems to be either flared or crocheted. With that in mind, I love these high-rise corduroy flares from Reformation in navy blue made with 100% organically grown cotton. I’d pair them with a peasant blouse for a relaxed, folky feel. I can’t resist a cute tee either, and this slouchy, grey ‘Graceland’ one from Realisation’s Elvis Presley Collection would be perfect with some vintage denim for the weekend.

Upcycled denim is my go-to when I'm investing in jeans and I love this oversized pair by SRVC which can be worn as shorts when the weather gets warmer. I love everything Wales Bonner, and her sought after collaborations with Adidas just keep getting better and better – the recent collection was so vibrant with leopard print and primary colourways. I'll be adding this pair to my collection pronto.

I'm slightly obsessed with monochrome dressing at the moment, especially in grey. This knitted, fitted-waist blazer from COS is on my wishlist for spring as it's the perfect transitional jacket for the changing of the seasons. I'm trying to focus on buying less and investing more into quality this year, and I'm starting with accessories. These black flat velvet slingbacks from Gucci are a classic regardless of the season.

You can see where my mind is with my first pick. Not in London. Not in February. Instead, somewhere altogether balmier. I am desperate to add another Hunza G swimsuit to my swimwear wardrobe this year. I treated myself to their lilac seersucker swimsuit last spring; granted, I gulped when I parted with the money. But I've never met another one-piece like it. The crinkle fabric – by the brand of Pretty Woman fame – is thick, fast drying and so flattering, and the fact that they double-up as tops under shorts and wide-leg trousers make them an even more worthwhile investment. I'll wax lyrical to anyone who'll listen, but for now, my energy is probably better directed into choosing a colour. My second pick is a Life of Ease tracksuit – preferably in black. My wardrobe lacks loungewear which is smart enough to wear out, and the ‘Tamara’ set definitely fits the bill.

I'm really trying to be a bit savvier with my buys these days, if for no other reason than the fact that I refuse to spend another precious weekend beneath a mountain of unwanted clothes doing a wardrobe cleanse. Too many impulse buys in my twenties meant bulging closets with only a handful of outfits I actually wore, so when I turned thirty last year I vowed to really think on pieces before purchasing. Both of these accessories have been sitting in open tabs on my phone for a couple of months now and I'm still longing for them, which tells me that they're worth it. Mixing my metals is high up on my jewellery agenda right now thanks to the surge of excellent silver options (I could never fully ditch gold), and I've had my eyes out for a timeless, slouchy, practical shoulder bag for a while. Manu's is by far the chicest I've found.

My throwback style icon this year is Andy Sachs from The Devil Wears Prada. Knee-high boots are back, so I'll make like her and pair them with 15 denier tights a tailored coat and shorter hemlines. I've been looking for some neutral tailored trousers to go with everything and this beige pair from H&M is just £19.99! I'd pair them with a plain white t-shirt, trainers and gold jewellery.

When it comes to comfortable trainers, this year the ASICS Gel range is set to rival everyone's favourite New Balance 530s. I can't resist an eye-catching hue and I'm leaning towards this pair in green, but a classic white colour-way would be a failsafe. I've never been one for a practical wardrobe so this purchase will need balancing out with something fun. Enter: Diesel's mini top-handle bag. The silver trend isn't going anywhere and this would be an easy way to wear it. Would this bag fit my phone? I'm not convinced, but I've seen how much the TikTok set can fit in a Jacquemus Chiquito. The joy it will bring me is worth the risk of impracticality.

I have had to pay Apple for more storage for the amount of times I have screenshotted this Asta Resort dress over the years. I recently bought its pink ‘sister’ equivalent and will be living in it for the foreseeable. The texture is perfect, isn’t itchy like some open-knit fabrics, and clings to my body without it being restrictive. It can be worn dressed up, with a pair of cute kitten heels or equally as a cover-up on the beach over your bikini. My go-to outfit choice is always a dress, if you hadn't already guessed, and I've got my eyes on another style for 2024 that's perfect for special occasions – this purple embellished House of CB dress. There’s just something about it that I know I'll feel confident in, and it fits the bill exactly for my birthday.

My efforts to refine my wardrobe are higher on my priority list than ever before this year, which for me actually means hardly any shopping (gulp). However, if I am to spend some coin, I want to do so on truly classic pieces that hopefully one day I can pass down. I've had my eye on the rather eye-wateringly expensive Saint Laurent Le Anne-Marie bag for a while now and I don't have anything like it in my current collection, so if I'm using it as a bargaining ploy/end-of-2024 treat to see how well I can do at saving in the meantime. Outside of that, my eyes are firmly set on a gold signet ring. They're everywhere at the moment (King Charles-core?) and I've definitely fallen prey to their timeless, go-with-everything appeal, so I'm making a beeline for Astrid & Miyu's £70 offering.

I feel like it’s time to smarten up my outerwear wardrobe with a sophisticated staple, and move away from the bomber jacket I wear almost every day. I’m a big fan of Weekday for staple essentials with a bit of design flair (plus Uniqlo for basic tees and socks, vintage for everything else), and this oversized coat is just perfect to place on top of a hoodie or smart attire. On the more colourful end, I’ve been trying to find a vintage cobalt blue French overshirt for ages, and I think this one looks spot on. It’s got the gorgeous herringbone cotton twill and bold hue that I love. Yes, it’s an obvious choice for any East Londonder, but it’s an absolute staple that I know I'll be wearing for years to come.

I want everything and anything from Mango at all times, and this season is no exception. Even in the midst of a bleak British winter, I'm perpetually on the hunt for a good summer dress and this 90s-esque square-neck denim number is a must-have for me. While I love a new trend, I have to admit the things I find myself reaching for are timeless classics that I know I can easily dress up or down, and this new Heritage collection from Mango definitely fits the bill. Naturally, I need something to wear the dress with through these colder months, so my second pick is this cobalt blue cardigan from Sézane, because truly nothing compares to a high-quality knit. After my sister returned from Paris with one I was immediately influenced, and I love the oversized fit of this particular style, plus the fact that it's an alpaca/wool blend. Pure heaven.

A moment for the COS bag please! Having wanted the Ripple Crossbody for ages, I was over the moon to see they’ve released a leather version. This silhouette is perfect for everyday use and can be paired with any outfit. I can't wait to get my hands on it and find out if it has the same amount of room as my old Uniqlo mini shoulder bag. Additionally, I have my eyes on the Wavy Hoop Earrings from & Other Stories. I love gold jewellery and own almost every type of hoop earring except for ones that have a wave design. These will be a great addition to my collection.

An oversized trench coat will always be in rotation in my wardrobe, and Aligne’s ankle-grazing Gilda style currently tops my wishlist. A transeasonal staple, it will work well draped over a dress for evenings out but can be easily dressed down when teamed with jeans and trainers. In the realm of accessories, my relentless search for a stylish shoulder bag that’s capacious enough to fit my daytime essentials consistently leads me back to 16Arlington's Kikka bag. With double leather flaps and silver-tone hardware, it’s easy to see why this immaculately-crafted design has won the hearts of fashion editors and influencers alike.

Hear me out: a pair of stylish yet comfortable trainers is almost never a bad idea. One of the very first fashion items that made it to my ‘must-buy’ list of 2024 were the iconic adidas Gazelles. Not going to lie, I was very much heavily influenced by my lovely fashion-forward colleagues, but what made me finally hit that "add to cart" button was more than the temptation to hop on the bandwagon. As soon as I spotted that they also happen to come in red, I knew I had to have them. Sure, a bold choice for my first pair, but yet still universal enough to add a little oomph to my otherwise predictable wardrobe. Speaking of items that have been sitting on my wishlist for longer than I can recall; the Polene ‘Numero Dix’ bag fits that category, too. Now, if you take inspiration from the TikTok girlies, chances are you've probably spotted this bag more than once on your FYP. Everything about it – the shape, the build and the colours – was exactly I wanted from a bag for every occasion. Chic, timeless and minimalist.
