Rihanna recently stepped out in a colour-blocked track jacket and matching trousers, Julia Fox opted for a slogan-emblazoned velour hooded tracksuit, and J Lo paired a cropped grey crew neck sweatshirt and joggers with an equally comfy choice of shoe: Uggs. So, it’s safe to say that tracksuits have officially received the celeb seal of approval, yet they aren't the only ones turning to the streetwear style.
As with most trends, the tracksuit revival has trickled down from the runways. This summer, Miu Miu took the women's trouser suit trend and sportified it with varsity jacket and short combos, while Louis Vuitton opted for a windbreaker and matching skirt look that we haven't stopped thinking about since. And the proliferation of track pants and pullovers has certainly continued into AW24.
Looking towards the luxury labels, Loewe makes a case for the retro striped styles, Ganni has gone for a full zip jersey jacket, and Celine created a chic navy and orange sweatpant. Plus, we can’t forget the incredibly popular Nike x Jacquemus collab, which featured a vibrant red sportswear-style tracksuit as the key focal point.
While it's a no-brainer to style a trusty tracksuit with slippers when at home or going to get an iced latte, adding accessories is the fastest way to take them from casual to chic when venturing outdoors. Try wearing the sweatshirt/hoodie over your shoulders with a plain white t-shirt, logo baseball cap, some chunky socks and fashion trainers. Or, as the most recent fashion week street style snaps show, truly clash the casual tracksuit vibe with a statement heel, no matter if it’s a sharp and sleek pointed-toe court or a height-adding platform.
