There is no rest for the reality TV fan. Just as Love Is Blind wraps up, here in the UK, a brand new season of MAFS Australia has arrived — which means another few months glued to our screens, watching as a cast of total strangers marry and then fall in love. Or, you know, don't. It's the perfect premise for both romance and drama, so, naturally, we are here for it.

This season, which kicked off on 9 March on E4, is already off to a flying start. And not always a very wholesome one. Is it just us or are a lot of these grooms sounding suspiciously like (quite misogynistic) Reddit threads? Anyway, regressive gendered stereotypes aside for now, we are tuning in, and we are already quite curious about where some of these new couples might end up.

As long-time MAFS Australia fans probably already know, we are kind of playing catch-up over here in the UK. The series usually airs a few weeks earlier in Australia — meaning you can access spoilers if you so choose. (Consider yourself duly warned!)

With that, here's everything we know about David and Alissa.

Who are David and Alissa?

David and Alissa were the first couple to be matched in season 13 of the show. Him, a 31-year-old e-commerce manager hailing from Queensland after moving from Nigeria aged 12, her, a 33-year-old nurse and social media manager and influencer from South Australia.

Alissa joined the experiment shortly after the end of a six-year relationship. As she explained, she joined after trying to navigate the “unfamiliar terrain of modern dating.”

As for David, he described himself as “principled, respectful" and someone who "wants to settle down”.

David and Alissa's MAFS Australia journey so far

So far, we've only really seen the early stages of David and Alissa's relationship. Things got off to an interesting start, when Alissa told David she couldn't marry him unless he got down on one knee and proposed to her — at the altar. “I need something from my husband. If this guy isn’t going to get on his knee and commit to giving this thing a real crack with me, then I don’t want to waste any more time,” she later said to the Daily Mail.

They sealed things with a — well — pretty serious kiss that we won't forget any time soon.

And that's all us Brits know so far.

Over in Australia, things are a few weeks ahead — and it seems to be pretty smooth sailing, with the couple becoming closer and closer each week. And, despite their rather dramatic wedding, they apparently have very little drama going on so far.

There are a few hints that there might be some bumps in the road ahead. Although Alissa recently called David her “home,” also confessed that she felt “unstimulated” by their partnership. Nevertheless, for now, they appear to be persevering.

Are David and Alissa still together after MAFS Australia?

As far as we know, yes! Of course, participants are supposed to keep their relationship status under wraps while the show is still airing, but according to one TikTok, the pair celebrated their one month anniversary. So let's just say, things are looking pretty positive!

They're certainly faring better than Chris and Sam, or Brook and Chris
