My first port of call when I'm struggling to know what to wear? Pinterest, which is not short of spring outfit inspiration ATM. Littered with snaps of the fashion set donning flirty layers of lace, or breathing new life into their basics by experimenting with fresh silhouettes, it's fair to say I've got plenty of ideas.
So, what have I actually saved to reference when planning my spring outfits? Stills from London and Paris Fashion Week that show windbreakers atop of poplin midi skirts and denim overalls paired with frilled blouses — AKA we're blending the super feminine and utility-esque this season.
Some might say these trends stem from the runway, with Miu Miu's Spring 2026 Ready-to-Wear collection giving us plenty of dungaree inspo, and Chanel making a strong case for the return of the peplum trend. Personally, I'm still on the fence.

As for street style? According to those in the know, we should be pairing our suede jackets with pops of pastel. I've also spotted early signs that balloon trousers will reign supreme, half-heartedly tucked into ankle boots a la Olivia and Alice, before we sub in flip flops for summer.

However, if you asked me to whittle down all of the spring outfit inspiration I've seen, I'd say these five looks below are what I'm planning to copy as soon as the temp starts climbing. Yeah, if it wasn't obvious, this isn't a case for the spring casual wardrobe — sorry!
Ahead, five spring outfits I am desperate to recreate.
If I'm honest, I wasn't involved in the first wave of windbreaker love. Typically, an item I reserve for my long outdoor runs, I didn't feel polished after taking up permanent residence in my semi-professional wardrobe. However, various street style stars have suggested pairing them with A-line skirts, either in poplin or with pleats, to add a preppy edge.
FYI, I'm going to tick off two 2026 fashion trends at once, opting for a polka dot funnel neck jacket. In terms of footwear, I'd say a streamlined fashion trainer would work, but I'm thinking of breaking up my black-and-white look with my trademark pop of red and a yellow-lens aviator.

Last year, they were the corporate gals' answer to what to wear to work when the temperature hit over 30°C. But I'm aching to bring my Bermuda shorts out of hibernation, especially since spotting Margot Robbie's recent airport outfit, and Georgia White's monochrome 'fit, finished with a pillbox hat and cat eye sunnies for a day touring Paris. Très chic.

While a version of this, based around my beloved black Reformation shorts, would work as we head into spring, I'm also considering how to make it feel a little lighter come June. Perhaps that involves investing in this chocolate pair and breaking my mum's favourite fashion rule: that black and brown should never be worn together. Plus, by opting for a collar, in the form of a short-sleeved rugby top, it becomes office-appropriate, too.

One piece that has been (successfully) reinvented more than any other? The denim jacket. And while last year we went oversized, this year I'm seeing a surge of asymmetric options, funnel necks and bubble hem jackets. Essentially, we're stepping outside of our comfort zones, experimenting with different silhouettes and less structured styles of denim. Essentially, steer clear of denim shorts and play with blue cotton on top.

On those slightly cooler days, I'm thinking of pairing my white, wide-leg linen trousers with a striped tee — this is a call to sub out your white t-shirt for a dopamine-inducing striped option — and a denim overshirt. Specifically, this ARKET number finished with military-style fastenings, which is already on route.

Formally the favoured combination of 2010 Disney stars, I'm seeing the (slightly controversial) return of mini dresses layered over jeans — barrel leg or straight-leg jeans, your choice. Why I think it works, though? It's the contrast of a floaty top with a rigid denim bottom, the unexpected combination breaking multiple unspoken rules and therefore grabbing my attention.

For styling notes, I'm following Rebecca Olivia to the letter, adding some edge by layering an oversized bomber-style leather jacket on top. And, with my forever favourite jeans, Abercrombie & Fitch's High Rise Barrel, now available in khaki, you best believe I've already invested. Yeah, forget white jeans — I'm opting for earthy tones this season.

Some might say the return started on the runway, with Miu Miu's Spring 2026 Ready-to-Wear collection featuring an embellished denim option I'm keen to recreate with the help of a glue gun. But the black broderie pinafore has also been saved to my inspo folder as an alternative to the classic kaftan.
Being a ‘90s baby, dungarees were a staple of my wardrobe until the age of five. But regular members of my FYP — namely @megbrackpool and @lau.maree — have made a strong case for their return, pairing this Free People pair with everything from striped tees to super feminine frilled blouses. Personally, I like the ‘I threw this on’ vibes of the latter, and plan to finish the look with a woven mule — what I'm declaring as this year's mesh ballet flat.
