13 new TV shows and movies coming to Netflix this spring
Ah, spring! A season of newness, when trees are filled with blossoms and cute little lambs frolic around fields. That’s nice and all – but we’d be lying if we said we weren’t more preoccupied with the upcoming bounty of films and TV shows that are about to hit Netflix.
Because as much as the spring sunshine inspires us to go outside, there’s nothing better than a night on the sofa with a gripping thriller or uplifting comedy. Thankfully, the streaming gods provide us with a constant stream of entertainment year round, with something for every mood and occasion. Need proof? Just look at what they’ve got in store for the next few months.
The best new shows and films coming to Netflix this spring
We know the feeling: you log into Netflix and spend so long searching for something to watch that you eventually give up. To save you the headache, we’ve combed through all of Netflix’s upcoming releases to give you the lowdown on what’s worth your time.
And there’s plenty to get excited about. Take Vladimir, for example, the new sexy psychological thriller series starring Rachel Weisz and Leo Woodall, based on Julia May Jonas’ critically-acclaimed book of the same name. Or Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, a horror-based limited series from the minds behind Baby Reindeer and Stranger Things.
Elsewhere, you’ll find the much anticipated return of beloved series such as Virgin River, Beef and XO, Kitty, while new dating show Age of Attraction will scratch our reality TV itch with an age gap-themed twist.
Films more your thing? Look no further than Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, Tommy Shelby’s epic feature-length outing that hits Netflix just weeks after its cinematic release. Then there’s Charlize Theron’s Apex, a high-octane survival thriller which sees the actor race through the wilderness to escape a hunter.
Finally, you can rely on national treasures Sir David Attenborough and Louis Theroux to provide your documentary fix, with new projects shining light on the lives of gorillas and the murky world of the manosphere, respectively. Stock up your snack cupboard – you’re about to spend a lot of time on the sofa.

The world’s most beloved documentarian takes on the internet’s most despised subculture in this 90-minute reckoning with the manosphere. Louis Theroux travelled to Miami, New York and Marbella to meet the scene’s most extreme influencers and creators, including HS Tikky Tokk, Sneako and Justin Waller. As you’d expect, Theroux fully immerses himself in their world, experiencing firsthand what it means to take the red pill, and how their views are shaping the minds and values of boys and young men worldwide.

Reality TV finally takes on age-gap relationships in Netflix’s latest dating show, taking the social experiment-style formula of Love Is Blind into new territory. Here, the couples are paired up dates old or young enough to each other’s parents and children – and they’re not allowed to reveal their ages until the end. Is age really just a number? You’ll have to watch to find out.

The beloved comfort watch returns for a seventh season, where we’ll finally get to see the show’s star couple settle into married life. The new batch of episodes will pick up straight where the last season left off, as newlyweds Mel and Jack embrace their honeymoon phase and navigate the possibility of becoming parents via adoption. But as always, the small town of Virgin River isn’t all pastoral bliss. Expect more drama in the local community, from shocking disappearances to gripping love triangles.

Peaky Blinders fans, rejoice. After six blockbuster seasons on TV, the series is finally getting the red carpet treatment with a feature length film. Specific details about the plot are pretty tightly underwraps, but according to an official synopsis, The Immortal Man will be Tommy Shelby’s “most destructive reckoning yet”, against a backdrop of WWII. As Cillian Murphy, who plays Shelby, told The Observer, “It’s a proper bookend to the whole 36 hours of television.” If he’s on board, then so are we.

A haunted wedding? For spring? Kind of groundbreaking. Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen introduces us to Rachel and Nicky the week before they’re about to get married – until, well, the clue is in the title. This deliciously suspenseful horror series is apparently less about jump scares and more about inspiring an undersettling undercurrent of dread, which might tell us something about the state of Rachel and Nicky’s relationship. From the director of Baby Reindeer and executive produced by the Stranger Things team, we know this one’s going to deliver in spades.

It’s Kitty’s final year at KISS Academy and our titular heroine has got it all figured out. This is the year when life gets real, with big decisions to make about her future and an even bigger circle of family and friends to nurture. And let’s not forget Min Ho, who switches so fast between being Kitty’s friend, enemy and lover it’s hard to keep track. Will this be the season they work things out once and for all? Hopefully. But as unexpected events upend Kitty’s plans, it’s unlikely to be a smooth journey.

Starring a megawatt cast of Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny, this is the prestige Netflix watch of the season.

Sir David Attenborough returns with yet another tale from the animal kingdom that’s set to pull at the nation’s heartstrings. This time, the narrative zooms in on Pablo, a baby gorilla that Attenborough first met years ago, before he grew into Silverback and had babies for himself. Charting the whole journey, A Gorilla Story will feature clips of gorilla behaviour that have never been captured on camera before – another extraordinary feat of documentary from Attenborough and his team.
