The Peaky Blinders film is officially here. The new film, titled The Immortal Man, is the long-awaited final chapter (at least for now) of the Shelby family saga. Director of the first season, Tom Harper, is back, and maybe the most exciting news of all, Mr Blue Eyes himself, Cillian Murphy, has reprised his iconic role of Tommy Shelby once again.
If you've not already watched The Immortal Man at the cinema, you can now watch it on Netflix from the comfort of your sofa. The reviews are already in, with NPR's David Bianculli describing it as “easy to consume and impossible to forget”, The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw a “resoundingly confident drama”, and Dan Jolin at Empire noting that it's “very much Peaky Blinders business as usual.”
Murphy, who co-produced the film, says, “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me. It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”
“I’m genuinely thrilled that this movie is about to happen,” Knight added. “It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war.”
‘Explosive chapter’? Sounds exciting. Here's everything else you need to know about The Immortal Man…

Peaky Blinders film Netflix release date
The wait is finally over. You can watch the new Peaky Blinders film from today (20 March) on Netflix.
Peaky Blinders film cinema release date
However, if you're a seasoned Peaky Blinders fan, you may have actually watched the film in selected cinemas from 6 March, a full two weeks before the Netflix release.
It seems like plenty of cinemas are still screening the film, including a number of Picturehouse cinemas, Everyman cinemas, The Light cinemas, Movie House cinemas and Showcase cinemas. Did someone say date night?
Peaky Blinders film plot
Following on from where Steven Knight's hit show left off, Cillian Murphy (with a fresh Oscar win under his flat cap) is back in his star role as gang boss Tommy Shelby. Set on a backdrop of World War II, he returns to Birmingham after a sort of rural self-exile to find the city in ruins with the future of the country at stake, and his “gypsy son” (played by Barry Keoghan) at the helm of the crime empire, acting in signature violent and reckless Shelby style.
Tommy is back to face a reckoning from both the local community and his family due to his past… transgressions. According to the press notes for the film: “With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground.” Thrilling stuff. We can't wait to see what he'll do.
Peaky Blinders film cast
Of course, we have some familiar faces — most obviously, Cillian Murphy – and we're pleased to share that Stephen Graham is back once again. Other series alums include Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, and Ian Peck.
But there's also a whole host of stellar acting talent added to the film, including Barry Keoghan, playing Tommy's son, and Rebecca Ferguson (Dune, Silo), who appears to play the main female protagonist, acting opposite Cillian. Her role seems to combine the personalities of Grace Burgess and Polly Gray from the series, whose deaths were some of the most heartbreaking in Peaky Blinders history.
We also have Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs), who, from the trailer, appears to play some sort of governmental figure, plotting ways to win the war. It's a star-studded cast, to say the least.

An official, full-length trailer is available to watch now. It hints towards what audiences can expect without giving too much away. You watch it below:
Will this be the final Peaky Blinders outing?
At the BFI London Film Festival, Stephen Knight confirmed that the film will “probably be the sort of end of the road for Peaky Blinders as we know it.”
But that doesn't mean it'll definitely be its final outing. There has been talk of other spin-offs.
Anthony Byrne, a director of season six, hinted to The Sunday Times that there might be a spin-off of the younger Peaky Blinders, a new generation of flat caps and swagger.
He said: “Steve wants to do a spin-off show featuring younger Peakies, who we might see potentially coming to London and causing havoc and maybe getting involved with other gangs."
Long live the Peaky f**kin' Blinders.
Little Simz and rising star Jay Lycurgo will also star.
