If Kim K and Eva Longoria say we're wearing long-sleeve swimsuits, we're wearing long-sleeve one-piece swimsuits. Yep, our forever fashion idols opted for slightly more modest poolside attire last summer, and it's a trend we're keen to keep going. Why? Because sunburn is not on the agenda for 2026.

Thankfully, high street and luxury swimwear brands got the brief too – from fashion-forward Free People to Olympian-approved Speedo, most now stock long-sleeve swimwear options, some even offering added UV protection and aesthetic protection from chafing.

“The long-sleeve swimsuit has well and truly broken out of its ‘surf-only’ bubble,” says Joanna Bury, Finisterre's Senior Product Designer for Swimwear. “While it’s still the gold standard for athletes, it has evolved into a versatile essential for just about any activity, whether you’re in the water or out.
"Beyond the sporty aesthetic, these suits are practical powerhouses. Acting as a durable rash guard, they shield your skin from surfboard wax, rough sand, or the occasional jellyfish sting.”
Sold? Sure. Now onto which are worth your buck. As you know, Glamour's team of shopping editors rarely recommend products they haven't tested themselves — hence why I've spent the last month reviewing a host of long-sleeve swimsuits, including quick-drying crop tops, wetsuit-style swim tops and chic one-piece swimsuits to see which are best suited to open water swimming, surfing, paddleboarding, and lounging poolside.
So, read on to discover what I've deemed to be the best long-sleeve swimsuits of 2026, as well as answers from industry experts (swimwear designers and the like) to common swimwear FAQs. And, for those seeking the best tummy-control swimsuits and maternity swimwear, we've got those rounded up, too.

Long-sleeve swimsuit FAQs, answered:
“They are also a total game-changer for long-term comfort,” continues Joanna. "Sun protection is the big one here — UV rays are much more intense when they’re bouncing off the water, and covering your arms and shoulders is the easiest way to avoid sun fatigue.
“You also get varying levels of warmth, from simple wind protection to the serious thermal insulation of natural rubber. For many, there’s a massive confidence boost in the extra coverage, too; since the suit is a one-piece, it’s designed to stay exactly where it should, no matter how much you move.”
“When it comes to the fit, the goal is a precise, ‘second-skin’ feel: it should be snug enough to support you but never restrictive,” details Joanna. “Think of it like a regular swimsuit that sculpts your body without causing any unwanted bulging or bunching. You’ll want to pay close attention to the ‘seal’ points at the cuffs and the neck. These should be a snug fit to stop water from ‘flushing’ through the suit, which is how you maintain that lovely thermal warmth. That said, it still needs to be flexible enough to wear comfortably for a full day at the beach.”
Aside from a flattering fit, pay attention to technical features — and for the eco-conscious, you'll want to consider sustinable fabric choices too. “High-performance suits often feature seamless underarm zones to prevent chafing, and many now utilise recycled materials like ECONYL or Yulex made with natural rubber, which offer the same hard-wearing performance without the high environmental footprint of traditional neoprene,” explains Joanna.
“Material choice is key; while lightweight recycled fabrics are great for lounging, natural rubber provides excellent insulation for cooler conditions. Don’t overlook the practical bits, like a zip long enough to make getting in and out of the suit effortless. Whether you’re paddling out past the break or just lounging by the pool, a well-chosen, sustainably-minded suit lets you enjoy the water with total confidence and comfort.”

How I test the best long-sleeve swimsuits:
As you'd expect, it largely consists of going for multiple dips in each long-sleeve swimsuit. However, to test their design, durability and overall function, this was in different environments (the sea, indoor pools and plunge pools) at various times of the year.
While wearing each style, I reviewed it against the following criteria:
| Functionality | Was the swimsuit fit for purpose? Did I have any issues in terms of slipping, twisting or skin irritation? Was it unnecessarily absorbent? |
| Design | Is the swimsuit aesthetic and comfortable? How many options do I have in terms of colour and pattern? And what was each swimsuit made of — is the material chlorine and UV resistant, as well as quick-drying? |
| Price point | Would I be willing to spend that much again? Is the swimsuit good quality? |
| Delivery | How quickly did the swimsuit arrive, and what were the associated costs? |
As someone who fluctuates between a DD and an E, depending on where I am in my cycle, I just fall into large bust territory. As a result, I also considered how size-inclusive each style was.
Unsurprisingly, only the long-sleeve swimsuits that impressed made it into this edit. However, I also tried the following:
- Land's End Women's Long Sleeve Zip Front Tugless Swimsuit, £85 — True to size and cut colourway, but I wasn't a fan of the high neck, and found the zip irritated my (sensitive) skin.
- Cobalt Blue Crinkle Long Sleeve Rash Swimsuit, £45 — Great price point and fun design, but found it came up a little small. Plus, no option for petite or tall girls.

Why you can trust me:
I've been reviewing swimwear, underwear, shapewear, activewear, and wellness products, such as cotton underwear, sports bras, and period pants, for almost three years — that's one year at Women's Health and 18 months at Glamour. During that time, I've seen countless trends and advancements, as well as a boom in our options.
But to ensure I am an authority on functional fashion and menstrual health, I regularly attend press launches, read the latest journals and interviews, and chat one-on-one with sportwear designers, gynaecologists, women's health experts and brand founders, asking for their insight and wellness tips.
In terms of my personal experience, as a fluctuating DD/E cup, I too struggle to find one-piece swimsuits and bikinis that are both aesthetic and supportive. And while I tend to favour a full-cup or a tummy-supporting style, I was keen to try various long-sleeve swimsuits that offer a little more coverage and help protect me from the powers of the sun.
