22 reality TV shows that will leave you 100% hooked, from Vanderpump Rules to House Of Sims
Reality shows are just what we need sometimes. And luckily for us, we have been spoilt for choice thanks to fan favourites such as Love Island, Too Hot To Handle, and Love Is Blind.
Our round-up includes the likes of The Big Flower Fight, where people compete to have their floral installations displayed at London's Royal Botanic Gardens. Bloomin' exciting! There's also a group of young adults being forced to stand up on their own two feet while surviving the wilderness in Snowflake Mountain.
Now I finally understand the show.
Then there's the heartwarming Japanese show Old Enough, where children as young as two are sent out on their first grown-up errand, and a camera crew follows to see how they get on – now on Netflix for your adorable viewing pleasure. Oh, and the somewhat controversial 2010 show Bridalplasty – where brides-to-be compete for the chance to win free surgical procedures before they tie the knot.
Meanwhile, there's a whole batch of reality shows that you may have heard of before but probably haven't given them a chance yet. Well, we're here to convince you to watch them because the entertainment is on another level. In particular, we advise you to catch the OG reality dating series, The Bachelor. The American version, in particular, is absolute drama in the name of love! If you're looking for something a bit more up-to-date, we can vouch for the Selling Sunset-inspired real estate show, Buying Beverly Hills, which, if anything, is perfect for watching for the insane mansions alone. There's also no shortage of glamorous women living their best lavish lifestyle, and you'll be thoroughly entertained with the likes of Dubai Bling and The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Lives.
So, without further ado, here is your excuse to stay firmly planted on the sofa, crack open a bottle of vino, and get well and truly hooked on the real-life dramz. You’re most welcome.
BravoVanderpump Rules
This corker follows one of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Lisa Vanderpump, as she opens an exclusive restaurant in Hollywood. One of the first “Real Housewives” spin-off shows, it slowly expands as Lisa's restaurant and bar empire expands also. The success of the show has led to three more Vanderpump-related spin-offs as well.
Guy LevyRuPaul's Drag Race
The reality TV show to end all other reality TV shows, arguably. For the uninitiated (where have you been?) a group of talented drag queens battle it out through lip-sync battles and fashion shows to be the winner, hosted by the legendary RuPaul with guest judge appearances from the likes of Sarah Michelle Gellar, Charlize Theron and Alan Carr.

Loved the reality show Brat Camp? Well, Snowflake Mountain has the same jist with a group of misguided, ungrateful young adults put through their paces at a wilderness survival retreat. Will they give up and go home, or will they finally be able to stand up on their own two feet and learn valuable life skills? Absolutely essential viewing.

Another group of glamorous women are the cast of The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. These ladies are part of the Indian film dynasty, with some being the wives of successful Bollywood actors, others coaching their children to become the next breakout stars, and some even working in the industry themselves. These ladies only expect the best, making it essential viewing for all.
The Bachelor (US)
The Bachelor in the UK is a spin-off of the long-running American dating series, The Bachelor, which first debuted in 2002. Each season, there's crazy drama as a group of beautiful women compete to find love with the bachelor. Expect lots of catfights, lots of "not being there for the right reasons", and lots of "can I steal you for a second?" — but most importantly, expect a lot of romance, with the bachelor starting each season in LA, before jet setting across the world to find the woman of his dreams.
Say I Do
Whether you're single and looking, happily married or perfectly content being on your own, there's nothing more relaxing than watching a wedding-centred reality show. Say I Do sees engaged couples overcoming obstacles to bag surprise dream weddings designed by three experts in less than a week. Will they make it down the aisle? Only time will tell...

A dating series with a geeky twist… in this MTV series, contestants put their faith in a dating algorithm to help them find love. Before taking part, 10 single men and 10 single women undergo an intense-sounding ‘vetting’ process which involves psychological questionnaires, interviews and compatibility tests – which determine their ideal mate (out of the people available). They are then put in a house together and tasked to match with their predetermined ideal partner – winning a cash prize if they correctly identify ‘The One’.

NetflixOld Enough
In this adorable, feel-good Japanese show (it's subtitled), children of between two and five years old are sent out by themselves for the first time to complete an errand, like grocery shopping or taking clothes to the dry cleaners, with sometimes-disastrous results. The camera crew follow along to chronicle the little ones' progress – and ensure they stay safe. Episodes are short (each around 10 minutes), making them highly binge-able.

Apple TVBridalplasty
Bridalplasty is a 2010 American show with a slightly (read: extremely) questionable premise: 12 brides compete to win the chance to undergo extensive plastic surgery ahead of their wedding day (the clue’s in the name). While it likely would never be made today and received a lot of criticism in its day, Bridalplasty is a fascinating look at reality television in its infancy – and definitely makes for gripping viewing.
