11 best luxury pyjamas to elevate your bedtime routine
Featured in this article
There's nothing wrong with that oversized t-shirt you've worn to bed for years. However, I would say that investing in luxury pyjamas has significantly improved my evenings. Now I run home from the office, keen to swap my outside clothes for a silk co-ord or cotton top and shorts that practically swaddle me in softness.
And, really, it makes sense — we treat ourselves to the latest designer bags and trinkets from the best jewellery brands all the time, so why not add quality sleepwear to your wishlist, too?
Don't get me wrong, spending upwards of £100 can seem extravagant (and perhaps unnecessary) when your favourite high-street online brands do pyjama sets so well. However, if you're looking to elevate your nightly routine, then this is the solution.
So, what makes women's pyjamas (i.e. pyjama tops and pyjama bottoms) luxurious? They're either crafted to an exquisite standard — the best silk pyjamas fit into this bracket, as do sets crafted from cashmere, linen and Supima cotton — or designed with considerate details (oversized pockets and no-slip buttons).
However, you'll want to ensure your splurge on luxury pyjamas is worthwhile — hence why I've personally tested more than 25 pairs ahead of drafting this edit. So, read on to discover the very best new season sleepwear, including short pyjama sets and pure silk trousers with matching shirts from the likes of Eberjey, LilySilk and The White Company. And if you're in the market for a new dressing gown, we've reviewed those too.
Ahead, our edit of the best luxury pyjamas for 2026, approved by Glamour's shopping editors:
What makes pyjamas ‘luxury’?
Some might say this is down to personal tastes; however, there are a few key things I'd recommend checking for before heading to the checkout. Brands producing luxury pyjamas will often prioritise the use of quality materials — organic cotton, silk, temperature-regulating modal. But you should also notice that there's a close attention to detail, with fine stitching, good-fitting cuts, and durable finishes.
What fabrics are best for luxury sleepwear?
This is really a question of personal preference — do you prefer soft satin, or the thermoregulating powers of modal? However, each material has it's assoiated perks:
- Silk – Undeniably smooth, temperature-regulating, and feels incredibly indulgent.
- Egyptian or Supima cotton – Soft, breathable, and long-lasting, washing well and creasing the least.
- Bamboo viscose – Lightweight, eco-friendly, and moisture-wicking.
- Modal – Silky feel with intense stretch and good durability.
How I choose the best luxury pyjamas:
Luxury pyjamas are an investment, and I certainly wouldn't want to recommend a pair that doesn't score highly for quality, design and comfort. Therefore, I've personally spent the last three months reviewing as many pairs of pjs as possible — from full-length trouser sets to silk cami and shorts combos.
For context, each pair (or the same but in a different colourway) was worn for a minimum of two sleeps and then scored against the following criteria:
| Functionality | Were the pyjamas comfortable to sleep in and thermoregulating? Where they suitable for both lounging and sleeping? Are they size inclusive? |
| Design | Are the pyjamas aesthetic and comfortable? How many options do I have in terms of colour and pattern? And what was each pair of pyjamas made of — is the material sustainable and breathable? |
| Price point | Are the pyjamas good quality? Is the price for one item, or an entire set? Would I be willing to spend that much again? |
| Delivery | How quickly did the pyjamas arrive, and what were the associated costs? How easy is the returns or exchange process? |
Unsurprisingly, only the luxury pyjamas that impressed made it into this edit. However, I also tried the following, which sadly didn't meet my standards:
- Intimissimi's Men’s Style Silk Jacket, £99 — Firstly, the top and bottoms are sold separately, which ensures they fit as desired, but it also drives up the price. Plus, I found that the top came up small (I had to size up twice to get the relaxed fit I desired) and was really see-through.
In terms of what I'm currently testing, stay tuned for these reviews:
- Chelsea Peers' Satin Scallop Edge Long Pyjama Set, £59
- Polo Ralph Lauren's Long-Sleeve Poplin Pyjama Set, £200
Why you can trust me:
On a personal level, I like to think of myself as a pyjamas connoisseur, considering I currently have more than 17 pairs in my rotation. I don't do traditional loungewear, but rather change straight into a matching set the second I walk in the front door — and then potentially another pair for bed, depending on whether I've split my dinner down the front. And while it might be hard to believe, this is an edit I've curated over time, culling the pairs that don't meet my standards in terms of comfort and fit.
However, I've also been a shopping writer for almost three years, where I specialise in wellness buys and high-street fashion. An average week consists of testing everything from period pants to sticky bras and silk pyjamas, before writing up my honest reviews to share with Glamour readers. But to ensure I'm an expert in the above areas, I also regularly attend press days and quiz shopping experts for their recommendations.
