You’ll never guess which beloved teen drama has just landed on Netflix for your viewing pleasure.
Think basketball. Think misunderstood outsider. Think a quirky, artistic girl with a knack for turning emotional turmoil into beautiful poetry.
“It’s the oldest story in the world. One day, you’re 17 and planning for someday. And then quietly and without you ever really noticing, someday is today. And then someday is yesterday. And this is your life.”
Yes! One Tree Hill has officially arrived on Netflix, with all nine seasons of the cult-favourite series now available to stream.
First hitting our screens in 2003, the teen drama has rarely stayed far from pop culture conversation, resurfacing regularly on social media — perhaps prompting the streaming decision.
In the years since its finale, One Tree Hill has been widely hailed as “one of the greatest teen dramas of all time”, frequently compared to shows such as Dawson’s Creek and The O.C. The series will celebrate its 23rd anniversary this year — roughly the same age many of the cast members were when filming began.
The streaming giant announced the news on its official Instagram account on Sunday (March 1), posting: “Did someone say 2000s nostalgia??? ONE TREE HILL is now on @netflixuk!”

What is One Tree Hill about?
The drama is set in the fictional North Carolina town of Tree Hill, following the lives of two half-brothers — Nathan (James Lafferty) and Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) — who are forced to play high school basketball together despite being very different from one another.
Alongside them are the show’s core female characters: Nathan’s girlfriend Peyton (Hilarie Burton), a quietly introspective, art-loving outsider; popular cheerleader Brooke (Sophia Bush), whose confidence and complexity made her one of the show’s most beloved figures; and Lucas’ best friend Haley (Bethany Joy Lenz), the bookish, grounded voice of reason in the group.
Across nine seasons, the series charts the characters’ evolution from high school teenagers into messy, complicated twenty-somethings navigating adulthood. Viewers follow their journeys through marriages, divorces, unexpected pregnancies, heartbreak, friendship drama, and the slow, often painful process of figuring out who they are off of Tree Hill’s basketball courts.
It seems an especially fitting time for the show to make a comeback, given its focus on masculinity.

Will there be a One Tree Hill sequel?
One Tree Hill has continued to garner attention in podcast form, with original cast members and close friends Sophia Bush, Bethany Joy Lenz and Hilarie Burton launching the successful rewatch podcast Drama Queens. The project, which ran from 2021 to 2025, revisited each episode of the beloved noughties drama, offering behind-the-scenes anecdotes, personal memories and deeper reflections on the show’s themes — alongside a healthy amount of good-natured roasting.
And perhaps their continued chemistry inspired something, as a revival is reportedly in development.
In August 2024, it was announced that Netflix was developing a One Tree Hill reboot, set two decades after the original storyline.
The sequel is expected to follow best friends Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush) and Peyton Sawyer (Hilarie Burton), who are now parents navigating the complexities of raising teenage children.
According to Deadline, which first reported the news, the new series is set to explore themes “not unlike those they tackled in the original series”, including love, insecurity and grief.
Details remain limited, and it is still unclear whether other original cast members are expected to return to Tree Hill if the project moves forward.
Until then, enjoy binge-watching all nine seasons of One Tree Hill on Netflix.
