Sydney Sweeney in The Devil Wears Prada 2? How… groundbreaking.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 might just be the most anticipated film of 2026 — sorry Mother Mary and Michael. Arriving 20 years after the original, the Disney sequel has every chance of knocking our cerulean socks off all over again.
The sequel sees Andy (Anne Hathaway) return to Runway as Miranda (Meryl Streep) fights to keep the magazine afloat in an increasingly precarious media landscape, with both fashion and print journalism battling for relevance. Emily (Emily Blunt) is no longer at Runway, but instead running a luxury brand, holding serious commercial power that could make—or break—the publication’s future. Oh, we are seated.
The film’s biggest stars are all back, including Blunt, Streep, Hathaway, and Stanley Tucci. There are also plenty of rumoured celebrity cameos in The Devil Wears Prada 2, from Heidi Klum to Donatella Versace and Naomi Campbell. But one buzzy appearance, reportedly involving Sydney Sweeney, was apparently cut shortly before release, so let’s get into it.
Is Sydney Sweeney in The Devil Wears Prada 2?
Sweeney’s cameo first sparked rumours when she was spotted on the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2. The actress, best known for Euphoria and The Housemaid, was spotted on set in a hoodie, clearly trying to keep a low profile.
She reportedly filmed a scene with Emily Blunt last year that was intended to appear early in the sequel. In the scene, Andy, Miranda, and Nigel visit Emily — now working at Dior — to ask for her help saving Runway. When they arrive, they find Emily styling a celebrity client, played by Sydney Sweeney as herself, in what was said to be a three-minute opening sequence.
However, Entertainment Weekly reported that the scene doesn’t appear in the final cut of the film after a “creative decision” was made to remove it.
Why was Sydney Sweeney cut from The Devil Wears Prada 2?
Entertainment Weekly reported that the scene ultimately didn’t work structurally within the film’s final sequence, though the crew remained grateful that Sydney Sweeney took part in the shoot.
Other celebrity cameos — such as Lady Gaga, who shares a full scene with Miranda, and Tina Brown — did make it into the final cut.
Sweeney most recently appeared in season three of Euphoria and in Christy. She also found herself at the centre of controversy after sharing photos from her mum’s hoedown-themed 60th birthday party, where some guests wore hats reading “Make Sixty Great Again,” while another image showed her father in a “Blue Lives Matter” shirt. Sweeney did not confirm any political affiliation, instead saying that people were turning a family celebration into a broader political statement.
In 2025, she sparked further headlines after releasing a novelty soap product that was said to contain her bathwater, followed later that year by a high-profile appearance at the wedding of Lauren Sánchez and Jeff Bezos.
She also drew criticism for an American Eagle ad in which she played on the words “jeans” and “genes,” saying: “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair colour, personality, and even eye colour. My jeans are blue.” Some viewers argued the messaging veered into uncomfortable territory, with comparisons to eugenics discourse. Sweeney did not directly respond to the backlash, telling GQ, “I think that when I have an issue that I wanna speak about, people will hear.”
No rest for the wicked.

In April 2026, she partnered with American Eagle once again, this time poking fun at the previous controversy. “What brand am I wearing? Yeah ... that one,” she says in the ad, appearing to laugh off the discourse surrounding the earlier campaign.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is in cinemas from the 1st of May.
