Sure, the BAFTAs red carpet has been full of glitzy gowns and award-worthy outfits, but it's the beauty looks that have really caught my eye this year. From Camila Cabello's coppery eye to Naomi Ackie's killer pink blush via endless slicked-back buns, the glam squads did not come to play this year.
But as someone who's been on an almost 20 year-long odyssey to find the perfect nude lipstick (shout out to all my former Revlon Super Lustrous queens), it was Selena Gomez's perfectly peachy lipstick that stopped me in my tracks. The Emilia Pérez star, who's up for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Spanish-language musical, wore her signature cat-eye flick with taupe eyeshadow and subtle pink blush, while her hair was neatly pulled into a slicked-back bun (a look favoured by hair stylists on the red carpet this year).
Of course, the ‘perfect nude lipstick’ is subjective and depends on your skin tones, undertones and makeup preferences. But this peachy mid-tone – not too pale and not too pink – perfectly complements the rest of Selena's look, and would be the ideal everyday shade; the type I'd keep in my handbag for lipstick top-ups on the go.
As for the exact product, Selena's MUA Hung Vanngo shared that the makeup look was of course created using Selena's own beauty brand, Rare Beauty, and if past red carpet appearances are anything to go by, my guess is that the exact lipstick used was the Kind Words Matte Lipstick in shade ‘Talented’ (which Hung has used on Selena for various looks in the past) or shade ‘Worthy’, most likely with the matching lip liner too.
