Aimee Lou Wood may already be a seasoned actress, but The White Lotus star only just unlocked a “first” this evening by making her debut at the 2025 Met Gala.

Speaking on top of the steps of the Met, the actress was candid about her nerves. “I'm terrified because it's my first Met, we're rookies," she says, standing next to her White Lotus co-star Patrick Schwarzenegger. “But when I heard the theme, I just knew I wanted it to be by Priya Ahluwalia who is this amazing designer in London and she led the way and created this wonderful look.”

The look was not only in keeping with 2025’s Superfine: Tailoring Black Style theme but was also a nod to the distinctive elegance of the Congolese fashion. The designer, who is of Nigerian and Indian heritage, bonded with Aimee Lou over their shared passion for activism. Wanting to shine a spotlight on the escalating violence in Congo which has left millions of people displaced, the pair decided to include a nod to the humanitarian crisis. “I wanted to do something that spotlights Congolese culture,” Ahluwalia tells Vogue.
