Blake Lively isn’t coming. Zendaya is. So there’s one big question mark left: Will Rihanna attend the 2025 Met Gala? We can only hope!
But odds are good for a Rih appearance on the carpet. Not only because she’s attended many times, but also because her boyfriend and co-parent, A$AP Rocky, is one of the evening’s co-chairs, along with Anna Wintour, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, and Pharrell Williams, and honorary chair LeBron James. With A$AP Rocky’s attendance confirmed, it stands to reason that she’ll attend to support him and walk the steps together.
That said, there’s precedent for a significant other being a no-show. Ben Affleck notably skipped the gala the year his then-wife, Jennifer Lopez, was a cochair. In that case, his absence was probably some combination of a busy schedule and the fact that the couple were on the brink of breaking up. As far as we know, Rocky and Rihanna are still going strong. The only reason she didn’t go last year was a bout of the flu.
Maybe the better question is: What’s Rihanna going to wear to the 2025 Met Gala? Rihanna tends to favour voluminous looks, like the massive train she wore in 2015 or the blanket coat from 2021. But this year’s dress code is Tailored for You, and the exhibition has an emphasis on menswear and the history of the Black dandy. Meaning, Rocky will likely wear a bespoke suit, impeccably tailored, whereas Rihanna…it could go so many ways! She’ll have to collaborate with a brand that can balance tailoring and volume.
Our best guess? Dior. She just became the face of the brand’s signature fragrance, J’Adore, and has been toting a Dior handbag on recent outings. Whatever she wears, we know she’ll be the belle of the ball.
