How Priya Ahluwalia’s latest collection masterfully explores the inherent beauty of Blackness

Priya Ahluwalia has seized the attention of the fashion industry with her intuitive attention to detail and the translation of her cultural heritage into her refined pieces.

Each unique piece of Ahluwalia’s collection tells a story and the conveyance of Black love and pride through her clothes has meant that those within and outside the fashion world are entranced by her work and all that it represents.

In a short space of time, Priya went from graduating from the University of Westminster with a Menswear MA to launching her brand and collaborating with the likes of Adidas, Mulberry, Gucci, and Ganni.

Infusing her Nigerian and Indian heritage into her intimately handcrafted designs, Priya makes it her mission to present pieces that are a high spirited celebration of Black identities and culture. With her innate attention to fabric, colour and fit Priya’s innovative pieces empower Black men and women and this is why she is the obvious choice for many actors, musicians and models.

Priya has received many awards for her work, including the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design, BFC/CG designer menswear fund, the H&M design award, and the LVMH prize.

Priya Ahluwalia is a mouthpiece for many from Black and Indian communities. Her myriad of cultures and traditions transport her clothes from mere items into the embodiments of the beauty within Blackness.
