A sexual wellness writer's honest review of the LELO SONA 3 Cruise

Because your clit deserves Cruise Control.
LELO SONA 3 Cruise Review 2026 UK
LELO

The LELO SONA 3 Cruise has made me a disloyal woman. Georgia Steel once stood at the Love Island firepit, eyes blazing, and declared: “I’m loyal.” For years afterwards, whenever loyalty was questioned in even the most minor way, my friends and I would echo her with the same righteous conviction. It became a bit. A mantra. A lifestyle.

But today, I cannot say those words with grace. Specifically, I've been disloyal to my long‑term clit sucker — the one that lived in my bedside drawer, saw me through breakups and work stress, horny ovulation weeks and those particularly frustrating masturbation sessions that come with SSRIs. She was dependable. She was consistent. She knew me. And yet, I have put her away. Perhaps for good.

Because I am now loyal to one clit sucker, and one only: the LELO SONA 3 Cruise Sonic Clitoral Massager

What makes this betrayal sting even more is that I didn’t expect it. I’ve tried LELO toys before. The SONA 2? Lovely. A fun weekend lover, but not the one who rearranged my emotional landscape. The SILA? A cult favourite, beloved by my Glamour editor — just not my soulmate. The only LELO toy that had ever truly moved me was the LELO SWITCH, a dual‑sided wand vibrator I reached for whenever I wanted a bit of internal action alongside the external.

But the SONA 3 Cruise is different. It takes everything that made the original SONA iconic and quietly levels it up. There’s SmoothRise, Cruise Control, and — for the tech‑curious among us — app connectivity. It’s powerful without being aggressive, clever without being gimmicky, and somehow manages to feel both luxurious and wildly efficient. She does all of this in a pretty pink colour.

How I tested the LELO SONA 3 Cruise:

For the past three years, I’ve been testing every sex toy I can get my grubby little hands on. That includes rabbit vibrators, magic wand vibrators, G‑spot vibrators, and pretty much every [insert name] vibrator you can imagine.

Through this, I’ve learned what makes a sex toy truly great — not just for me, but for a variety of preferences. I compile my findings alongside feedback from friends, the GLAMOUR shopping team, and online reviewers to create a well-rounded picture.

When it came to the LELO SONA 3 Cruise, I put it through its paces during solo sessions. I then scored it across the following criteria:

  • Ease of use — Could I work out the control panel without a cover-to-cover read of the instruction manual?
  • Speed and intensity of orgasm — Did it provide pleasurable sensations, or simply numb my erogenous zones?
  • Design — Was it ergonomic, easy to hold and fit for purpose?
  • Settings — Was there enough variety? Any unique patterns I haven't seen before?
  • Volume — Does it count as a quiet vibrator? AKA, did it disturb my flatmate?
  • Waterproof — Did it work effectively in the bath and/or shower?

Why you can trust me:

As a sexual wellness writer, my job is to know everything there is to know about the sex and relationships industry. And that’s no easy feat, because it evolves every single day. From dating sites for married people to thrusting dildos, ultra-thin condoms to long-distance sex toys, there’s always something new and exciting hitting our world.

Alongside hands-on testing, I attend product launches, interview leading sexual health experts, and immerse myself in press events dedicated to intimacy and innovation. This combination of research and real-world experience lets me confidently advise you on which brands deserve your attention — and which products are actually worth the investment.

I don’t know if I’d call myself a London Carrie Bradshaw, but one thing’s for sure: it takes the whole crew to produce these sex toy reviews and roundups. I rely on my Charlottes and Samanthas to scope out beginner-friendly vibrators as well as adventurous sex toys for couples looking to let loose.

The LELO SONA 3 Cruise comes in a light pink shade with a rose‑gold plastic finish — much like the original SONA 3. I will say, though, that the rose‑gold colouring looks a little cheaper than the gold finish on some of LELO’s other toys. I wouldn’t clock this vibrator as “luxury” at first glance in quite the same way I do with my other LELO favourites.

But, as we all know, it’s what’s on the inside that counts — namely, the inside of my clit while using the LELO SONA 3 Cruise. We’re talking ultra‑soft silicone and that signature wide mouth, which is satisfyingly squidgy rather than rigid (a crucial distinction when it comes to clitoral suction). The clever plating design also means you don’t get those harsh reverb vibrations travelling back into your hand, so you can really lean into the Cruise Control without discomfort.

A big part of my LELO SONA 3 Cruise review involved testing it with the LELO app, which is one of the standout upgrades here. The app is refreshingly simple to use and unlocks two additional modes — Finish Me Off and Out of Control — which immediately made me feel very VIP indeed.

It also introduces a new feature called Love Bridge, designed to bring long‑distance couples a little closer. You can set up a discreet (but undeniably naughty) chat room, seamlessly switch control of each other’s app‑connected LELO devices in real time, and explore new sensations together — no matter the distance. Yes, friends. We officially have a long‑distance sex toy on our hands.

LELO SONA 3 Cruise: The Verdict

The thing I love most about the LELO SONA 3 Cruise is something I didn’t even know I needed. Isn’t that what they say about partners? I wouldn’t know — I’m single, relying on the best vibrators for now.

The SONA 3 Cruise comes with newly developed SmoothRise technology, designed to heighten pleasure without any distracting jumps in intensity, letting you glide through vibration modes effortlessly. As a sexual wellness writer, I’m usually sceptical of these fancy terms with capital letters sprinkled everywhere. But I’ll admit it: I was wrong.

Previously, switching modes on any vibratorLELO or otherwise — would yank me out of the moment. SmoothRise removes that pause entirely, letting me float between settings so there’s never a second without satisfaction. Suddenly, I could take things to the next level or change motion with just a split-second delay.

And, of course, I’d be remiss not to mention Cruise Control, the feature that gives this toy its name. The SONA 3 Cruise automatically increases intensity when pressed firmly against the body, delivering controlled, consistent pleasure every single time. So when you’re toe‑curlingly close and need that final sprint to the finish line, she’s got you covered.

That said, she is just a clit sucker — a very good one, don’t get me wrong — but she isn’t quite as revolutionary as some of LELO’s other toys.

ProsCons
Wide, deep mouth isolates the clit; soft texture ensures no pain.Fewer app possibilities than other LELO toys.
10 modes, including two extra via the app.Rose-gold plating looks a bit cheap.
Plastic plating prevents vibrations from reaching your hand and offers an ergonomic grip. The highest setting could be stronger for those who like it hard.
SmoothRise helps you build gradually; Cruise Control gives that final push.
Finally, a quiet vibrator that delivers on the promise.
