Sock boots are fashion’s cleverest and cosiest trend – here are the best of the season
Sometimes fashion comes up with some pretty quirky hybrid garments: coatigans… drousers…skorts… Sometimes they work (we are devoted to a good shacket TBH) and sometimes… nah. However, sock boots are the versatile and cosy footwear option that’s giving us happy feet this autumn/ winter season. In fact, whoever brainstormed the idea of combining socks and boots deserves a Nobel prize. Plus sock boots are a perma-trend that will stay with us beyond this season - giving a thumbs-up in the cost-per-wear and sustainability stakes.
The concept of sock boots are simple… and all the boots we found in our edit of the best to shop right now, follow the same principle: You simply pull them on and go! And anything that combines style points with ultimate ease is a win-win in our eyes. Plus, the versatility: There are chunky boots with ribbed socks for weekend wear and stomping round the park; slick, chic nylon sock boots that work for smart city days; and even slinky satin pairs to team with a slip dress when you are going Out Out.
So which style should you go for, and which are the ones we at GLAMOUR are currently rating? Right now, everything creative director Catherine Holstein creates for Khaite is *flames*. The brands clogs are cult and their kitten heel cowboy boots were a favourite at Paris Fashion Week. Khaite’s neoprene sock boots are equally as desirable. Dries Van Noten have a pair of pale pink satin sock boots which would look ideal with a pair of bootcut indigo denim jeans. Hi Y2K vibes! Miu Miu have also created an after-dark version of the sock boot with a lurex upper and crystal-embellished heel. We are drooling already.
If you’re looking for a pair of sock boots to wear with a winter coat out walking then ASOS have a cheerful orange patent style which will keep the drizzle at bay but if the modern minimal aesthetic is your bag, Bershka’s chunky ecru version ticks the box. Boots can be a tricky buy if you’re living the plant-based life but Kurt Geiger have a fully vegan version of the sock boot you can shop right now and love forever.
