Renée Zellweger's exquisite Oscars gown just made us re-think our entire wedding dress mood board

She's been nominated for just about every 'Best Actress' gong going this Awards Season for her lead role in the film Judy, but those of us with our finger even near the sartorial pulse have had our eye on Renée Zellweger over recent weeks for entirely more frivolous reasons.

From her Maison Margiela gown at the SAGs, to pink Prada at the BAFTAs and pastel blue Armani Privé at the Golden Globes - not forgetting a smattering of cooler trouser suits and jumpsuits by the likes of Jason Wu, Dior and Tom Ford at smaller celebratory ceremonies - the 2020 awards season has officially been Renée's best sartorial spell to date.

But, perhaps unsurprisingly, it seems as though Renée was saving the best until last, arriving on the Oscars red carpet on Sunday night to scoop her Best Actress Oscar in a custom Armani Privé gown that was nothing short of perfect.

The fit across her body, the modern one-shoulder long-sleeve, the crisp white hue, the flattering diagonal sequin embroidery, the more pronounced detailing at the trim; it was every inch the dream dress. An exquisite and heavenly masterpiece. In fact, it's made us rethink our entire bridal mood board and we're not even engaged...

So long to the whimsical, full-skirts, the lace-bodices or the heavy satin. Yes, brides-to-be, take note. Sole-shoulders and sequins will be huge news in the wedding-dress-world this year, and we have Renée to thank for that.

Of course, this exquisite dress didn't just happen by chance. Renée didn't pluck it off the shelf in her local department store. According to British Vogue, Giorgio Armani’s trusted team of three tailors "sourced the most exquisite white silk, crinoline and delicate paillettes to finesse the one-shoulder column gown." And, naturally, no fewer than a dozen fittings would do.

To be honest, that sounds like our bride-to-be energy right there. Mr Armani, we'll give you a call when it's time.
