H&M might just be our favourite high street store, so we have been mentally preparing ourselves for the biggest shopping weekend in the diary – aka Black Friday – for the past couple of days. And we are excited to announce the H&M Black Friday sale is in full swing, granting all new and existing members exclusive access to 20% off absolutely *everything* online.

We could reel off more reasons than we can count on why we love H&M, but to spare you the pain, we'll keep things short and sweet. First of all, there's the fact that they nail the essentials. Basics that are absolutely wardrobe staples, H&M is the place to head if you need a white tee, jeans, cosy knitwear, or killer party dress. There's also their Premium Selection, an edit of luxury clothing and accessories made from real leather, wool, silk and suede that rivals more expensive brands in terms of quality. While more expensive than the main line, these pieces are made to last hence the premium price tag.

We can’t forget H&M’s history of collaborating with designers including Simone Rocha, Balmain, TOGA, and most recently style icon Iris Apfel to celebrate her 100th birthday. And while it’s unlikely you'll be able to find any of these sellout collaborations in the Black Friday sale, they’re definitely worthy of a mention.

Second to that, not only does H&M do womenswear, menswear, and kidswear but they also boast one of the best high-street homeware lines on the planet (think modern, Scandinavian chic on a budget). From soft furnishings, and dinnerware, to lighting and furniture, H&M Home has it all covered.

Is H&M taking part in Black Friday 2022?

Yes! H&M have finally launched their Black Friday sale with 20% off everything on site (who doesn't love a blanket discount?!), slashing the prices of their winter coats, boots, accessories and more. The only catch, as with last year's sale, is that this offer applies to members only – but it really is as easy as entering your email address to sign up.

What to buy in the H&M Black Friday sale

Our H&M wish list is about as long as our arm, but we’ve made sure to already bookmark some key pieces we do not want to miss out on. With a whopping 8,000+ items in the womenswear section alone, it helps to know what to look out for. We've scoured through the lot and handpicked 23 items that are worth your money. It's a tough job, but someone had to do it.

The best news? We've found a near identical cardigan to the one Bella Hadid wore to the Jacquemus Spring/Summer 2022 fashion show. Bella’s long sleeve, black ribbed knit cropped cardi from the designer featured a gold metal charm logo. H&M have taken inspiration from the style, however their tribute is a flattering olive green colour with a sparkling, rhinestone detail at the front.

Our other recommendations include this oversized 100% cashmere jumper and double-breasted wool-blend coat, both from the Premium Selection. Any discount makes those slightly pricier stalwart wardrobe staples much more affordable.

Elsewhere, we’re very much focusing on the season ahead and shopping for the Christmas party season - something H&M does well, and this year's Christmas party collection is no exception. This sequin wrap dress would look amazing with these block-heeled Mary Janes for the office Christmas do. Or if you want just a touch of sparkle look no further than these long rhinestone earrings.

If you want to give your interiors a refreshed feel, swapping over your cushion covers is the easiest - and most cost-effective - way to do so, we love this checked design. And as the cold nights draw in, this pleated-shade table lamp will keep your flat feeling nice and cosy.

How to shop the Black Friday sale at H&M sustainably?

H&M hasn’t historically been the most environmentally-friendly shop, but the brand is actively trying to take steps to be more sustainable. Read the finer details and look out for recycled materials, from recycled wool to recycled polyester, as well as organic cotton.

H&M also run a garment collecting programme and has placed recycling boxes in stores globally. Simply take your old clothes - from any brand, and in any condition, into store and hand it over at the till. As a thank you, H&M will then give you a voucher to use towards your next purchase.

It’s easy to get sucked into the Black Friday madness and end up buying things you don’t necessarily want or need. To prevent any unsustainable shopping behaviour, we recommend making a plan in advance so you’re not sidetracked, no matter how good the discount seems. Trust us, your bank account will thank you for it.

What is Black Friday?

Black Friday is an annual shopping event known for its biiiiig sales. Always following the day after Thanksgiving, the American tradition has become popular with retailers in the UK over the past few years too. Often extending throughout the entire weekend and continuing on to Cyber Monday, it’s the perfect excuse to treat yourself to something that’s usually out of your budget, or get ahead on your Christmas shopping and pick up great gifts for less for everyone on your list from your boyfriend / girlfriend, your bestie, mum, sister, and even your grandparents. Oh, and can’t forget dad!

When is Black Friday?

This year, Black Friday falls on Friday 25 November, with Cyber Monday following on the 28th. You don’t have to wait until Black Friday itself though, as some sites have already started early Black Friday deals.
