All the best dressed from the red carpet at the Emmy Awards 2022

The Emmy Awards is the biggest awards ceremony for all those who work in the television industry, from actors and directors to costume designers and makeup artists. TV's very own Met Gala, if you will. 

While the ceremony is firmly dedicated to celebrating these celebrities' creativity and talent, the red carpet provides a coveted chance to establish their fashion credentials. Which trends will come out on top? Who will take home the (unofficial) award for best dressed? 

So far, we've been highly impressed by Laverne Cox's Jean Paul Gaultier gown, which references Madonna's iconic cone bra. Next, there was the small matter of Zendaya shattering all our hearts with a strapless black Valentino ball gown – it's giving Princess Diaries 3. Not to mention Lizzo's electric red tulle gown, Lily James' chainmail Versace dress, and Amanda Seyfried casually looking like a mermaid. 

In previous years, the Emmy's red carpet has been home to some truly visionary creations. Last year, Emma Corrin attended a viewing party for the awards wearing a strapless, nude gown by Miu Miu – with a bonnet to match. Meanwhile, Michaela Coel wore a lemon two-piece set by Christopher John Rogers to accept the ‘Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series’ Emmy for I May Destroy You, and Tracee Ellis Ross opted for an haute couture (what else?) gown by Valentino.
