Meet the cast of The Testaments
A dutiful and pious student at the school, Agnes is only just beginning to question the world around her. Her growing friendship with Daisy nudges her toward rebellion and sparks the first stirrings of change in her life.
Chase Infiniti stars as Agnes, most recently known for her breakout role in One Battle After Another. She also played a pivotal part in Apple TV’s Presumed Innocent, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal.
Unlike Agnes, Daisy is new to Gilead and its strict rules for women. Raised outside its borders, she is thrust into the oppressive regime as a convert and must quickly adapt to survive; a journey shaped in part by her growing friendship with Agnes.
Lucy Halliday shines in the role of Daisy. A relative newcomer, she previously appeared in Blue Jean and will be featured in the upcoming California Schemin’.
Back from The Handmaid’s Tale, we have Aunt Lydia. A high-ranking Aunt in Gilead, she is responsible for the indoctrination and discipline of young women. In The Testaments, Aunt Lydia grapples with her shifting sense of control and morality within the regime, while leading the next generation at Gilead’s elite preparatory school for future wives, including Agnes and Daisy.
Ann Dowd returns to the role, bringing the same commanding presence she is known for. You may also recognise her from Compliance and Hereditary.
A pampered teenager from a prominent Gilead family, Shunammite provides a stark contrast to Daisy and Agnes. Her status grants her respect and influence among her peers, yet she is a reminder that even the esteemed are not immune to the pressures and expectations imposed on young women in Gilead.
Rowan Blanchard takes on the role, adding to her impressive list of credits, which includes Snowpiercer, Crush, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, and A Wrinkle in Time.
Unlike Shunammite, Becka comes to the elite school from humble beginnings. Immediately singled out by Gilead’s most privileged daughters, she struggles to fit in and begins to question whether the life she’s being groomed for is truly what she wants.
Becka will be portrayed by Mattea Conforti, known for her roles in Frozen 2, The Many Saints of Newark, and NOS4A2.
Paula’s social status has recently risen thanks to her marriage to a high-ranking Commander, but life is far from easy with her new stepdaughter in the mix. She must navigate the challenges of maintaining her position while managing the complex dynamics of her household.
Amy Seimetz takes on the role and will be a familiar face to many, having appeared in The Killing, Sweet Tooth, and Stranger Things.
As a young Commander, Garth is sworn to protect the girls and their virtue, but he’s becoming far too involved, and it won’t go unnoticed.
Brad Alexander takes on the role of Garth; you may recognise him from You and Linley.
Step aside, Aunt Lydia, as Aunt Vidala is here to run the show. A stern disciplinarian, she is the heir-apparent to the women’s sphere of Gilead. A firm believer in the regime’s rules and traditions, she is ready to enforce them with unwavering authority. But with unrest growing among the students, Aunt Vidala faces her greatest challenge yet.
Mabel Li shines in the role and has previously appeared in New Gold Mountain and Bay of Fires.
In the role of Aunt Vidala’s right hand, we have Aunt Gabbana, played by Zarrin Darnell-Martin. She is a strict and uncompromising educator, quick to administer punishment and maintain order.
Darnell-Martin has previously appeared in The Good Doctor and Ginny and Georgia.
The youngest Aunt at the school, Aunt Estee, leads with compassion and kindness. She’s earned “cool Aunt” status among the students and serves as a source of comfort in an otherwise rigid environment.
Eva Foote takes on the role, having previously appeared in Murdoch Mysteries and Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy.
A sweet and naïve student, Hulda is excited by the prospect of womanhood in Gilead and is well-liked among her peers.
Isolde Ardies most recently appeared in Wayward alongside Toni Collette and previously featured in Ruby and the Well.
Jehosheba wants one thing and one thing only: a high-status marriage. And you better believe she’ll do just about anything to secure it. Coming from a respected family, she’s fiercely ambitious and intensely competitive with her peers.
Shechinah Mpumlwana has been acting from a young age, with credits spanning animated children’s series, as well as CBBC’s Creeped Out and the docudrama The Fire Inside.
Another student at the esteemed school, Miriam, is struggling under the pressure of “marriage season” as she finds herself on the cusp of womanhood.
Birva Pandya has previously appeared in The Institute, Northern Rescue and The Magic School Bus Rides Again.
And now for a Martha. Kira Guloien plays Rosa, a caring and dedicated figure who brings a sense of warmth to Gilead’s otherwise cold world. She becomes a much-needed maternal presence for Agnes within her rigid household.
Guloien is known for her roles in 56 Days and the Oscar-nominated Women Talking.
The Testaments is streaming on Disney+ from the 8th of April.
