The Oscars 2026 are almost upon us! Whether you're a self-proclaimed cinephile or a red carpet junkie, we're all excited for Hollywood's biggest, glitziest night of the year.

The 98th Academy Awards ceremony will mark the end of a buzzy awards season. This year, we've seen a mixture of daring political thrillers, genre-busting epics, and hard-hitting family dramas. In other words, there really is something for everyone on the list.

Ryan Coogler's inventive, thrilling vampire-meets-blues-music tale Sinners leads the way with a record-breaking 16 nominations, including nods for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, andb Best Supporting Actress for Glamour UK coverstar Wunmi Mosaku.

Close on its heels is Paul Thomas Anderson's revolutionary thriller One Battle After Another with 13 nominations. Marty Supreme, Frankenstein, Sentimental Value and Hamnet are all also up for a number of awards.

Here's everything you need to know as we all prepare to celebrate film at the Oscars 2026.

Who is the host of the Oscars 2026?

Comedian Conan O'Brien is set to return as host following his hosting debut at last year's ceremony.

"We have a lot of possibilities," O'Brien said to ABC News' Chris Connelly ahead of the big night. "Early on, you just generate possibilities for the show: 'What might we do?' You have to wait and see which movies are nominated, what's in the zeitgeist, so there'll be a lot of ideas that come in late. Sometimes those are the best ideas."

He added, “There'll be some explosions, CGI will be used. I see this second Oscars as an opportunity to take things up a notch.”

How to watch the Oscars 2026 in the UK
