House of the Dragon season 2's finale did not disappoint, rounding off a busy season while introducing us to another key new character: Admiral Lohar.
Though Admiral Lohar is portrayed as a cisgender man in George RR Martin's novel Fire & Blood, Lohar's gender is swapped for House of the Dragon, though Thorn's Lohar shares the very same fierce, strong and capable demeanour as Sharako has in the books.
In the HOTD finale episode we see Ser Tyland Lannister (Jefferson Hall) sent as an ambassador from the Prince Regent Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell), with Lannister having to prove himself to Lohar by mud wrestling with her before she agrees to become an ally to Team Green.
So who is Admiral Lohar in House of the Dragon and who is the actor Abigail Thorn (AKA Philosophy Tube) who plays Lohar? Here's everything to know.
HBO is taking us back to Westeros.

Who is Admiral Lohar in House of the Dragon?
Lohar is a Lysene admiral and commander of the Triarchy’s Navy of 90 Myrish, Tyroshi and Lysene warships. As is shown in House of the Dragon, her men are incredibly loyal to her and she will only agree to sail for Westeros if Lannister can “best” her.
Oh, and did we mention she also has several wives who she wants Lannister to sleep with in order to allow her to have children by him?
One mud wrestle and a feast later, in the montage of the Triarchy fleet at the end of the finale episode, we see that Lohar has kept her promise, sending her captains out to support the Greens.
Following the Battle of the Gullet, Lohar learns that Triarchy pirates have captured Viserys Targaryen on his way to Pentos. For a short time Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Daemon’s (Matt Smith) youngest son is in her care, though Viserys is sold to a Lysene magister later on.
Who plays Admiral Lohar in House of the Dragon?
Admiral Lohar is played by 31-year-old British actor Abigail Thorn, also known by her YouTube channel Philosophy Tube where she shares engaging, educational videos around philosophy.
Thorn confirmed her role in a Tweet in June:

Prior to House of the Dragon, Abigail appeared in TV series Django and Ladhood, though is perhaps best known for her YouTube where she boasts over 1.5M subscribers.
Thorn came out as transgender in January 2021 on her channel in a video titled Coming Out As Trans - A Little Public Statement.
What happens to Admiral Lohar in the Fire & Blood books?
In Fire & Blood, Sharako Lohar is criticised for her choices in the Battle of Gullet, with the Myrish people accusing the admiral of intentionally holding back ships from Lys and leaving the Tyrosh and Myr to a near guaranteed death.
Ultimately, this leads to the Triarchy dissolving, with only 28 of Lohar's 90 ships surviving.
A dispute then unfolds which culminates in the Daughters' War, during which Admiral Lohar looks after Prince Viserys, with the admiral eventually being murdered by a rival.
It seems the Dance of the Dragons isn't over yet…
