It's time for another Don't Worry Darling update! You've probably heard by now that Harry Styles and Florence Pugh are starring alongside each other in what's objectively considered the greatest big-screen news of all time (seriously, ask anyone). The 'Watermelon Sugar' singer and GLAMOUR favourite and former cover star's new movie, Don't Worry Darling, is on the way and don't you worry darlings, we've got ALL the details.
At the helm is Olivia Wilde, who just so happens to be dating Harry Styles after the pair got close onset in 2020. Fresh from directing her critically-acclaimed debut, Booksmart, Don't Worry Darling is Olivia's second turn in the director's chair. And judging from the latest official trailer, which you can watch below, it's going to go down an absolute treat.
Here's everything we know so far about Don't Worry Darling:
What will Don't Worry Darling be about?
The official synopsis for “Don't Worry Darling” reads (via IndieWire): “A 1950s housewife living with her husband in a utopian experimental community begins to worry that his glamorous company may be hiding disturbing secrets.”
The film was written by Olivia Wilde alongside her long-term writing partner Katie Silberman, with Amy Pascal producing and Rachel O'Connor acting as executive produces. Isn't it great to have more female-led productions heading to the big screen? Hell yes it is!
Who will star in Don't Worry Darling?
Did we mention Florence Pugh stars in the lead role as Alice? We have a feeling she's going to be epic. And Olivia seems to think so too. In a cute Instagram post to mark the end of filming, she wrote, "To work with an actor as talented and brave as @FlorencePugh is any director’s dream. I will forever be grateful for you, Flo. It was an honor to be your captain. Can’t wait for the world to see the astonishing work you’ve put into this movie.”
Harry Styles will play Florence's love interest, or "Our Jack," as Olivia affectionately dubbed him in a sweet tribute on Instagram earlier this year. She wrote, "Little-known fact: Most male actors don’t want to play supporting roles in female-led films. [...] Enter: @HarryStyles, our ‘Jack.’ Not only did he relish the opportunity to allow for the brilliant @FlorencePugh to hold center stage as our ‘Alice,’ but he infused every scene with a nuanced sense of humanity."

When will Don't Worry Darling be released?
Don't Worry Darling will be released on 23 September 2022.
Is there a trailer for Don't Worry Darling?
There certainly is. In fact, there's two. The latest trailer is utterly bonkers – not to mention overflowing with sexual energy. It shows Alice (Florence) and Jack (Harry) living it up in a suburban paradise, known as Victory. Cue a lot of sex scenes.
The cracks start to show in their domestic bliss when an increasingly claustrophobic Alice begins questioning the Victory project, declaring, “it's all about control” and err, wrapping cling film around her face.
The trailer ends with Frank, the CEO of the dystopian compound, taunting Alice, "I’ve been waiting for someone like you, someone to challenge me. Like a good girl…” Yep, that's us finished. You can watch the trailer here (if you can cope):
The first official trailer for the movie was played at CinemaCon earlier this year, with industry experts and cinema owners getting a first look at the psychological thriller. Explaining her vision of the film at the annual event, Wilde described it as “a love letter to movies that push the boundaries of our imagination.”
“I want you to imagine a life where you have everything you could want,” she told the crowd. ”Not just material, tangible things… like a beautiful house, perfect weather and gorgeous cars. But also the things that really matter, like true love or the perfect partner or real trusted friendships and a purpose that feels meaningful.”
“What would it take for you to give up that life, that perfect life. What are you really willing to sacrifice to do what’s right?” Wilde asked. “Are you willing to dismantle the system that’s designed to serve you?”
On Tuesday 3 May, the director shared the full-length trailer on her Instagram. It shows Olivia and Florence portraying two of the wives of the men who work at something called “The Victory Project.” As Florence's character seems destined to find out, it's more than a little bit suspicious.
