We've just been gifted a second season of Netflix's hit anthology series, Beef, and already we're hungry for another serving in the form of Beef season 3.

The second season of the Netflix show centres on two couples at war with each other: Austin (Charles Melton) and Ashley (Cailee Spaeny) versus Josh (Oscar Isaac) and Lindsay (Carey Mulligan). It’s a wild eight-episode ride, complete with ruined orange juice, coyote chaos, plastic surgery, and plenty more besides. We won’t spoil anything here, but we’ve got a Beef season 2 ending explainer if you need it.

We waited three years between the first two seasons, and we simply cannot accept that happening again. So, is there an end date in sight? And has Beef even been renewed for a third season? Here’s everything we know about Beef season 3 so far.

Has Beef season 3 been confirmed?

At this moment, there is no official confirmation of Beef season 3. No definitive statement has been made either way.

However, it feels increasingly likely that Beef will return for a third season. The first season was one of Netflix’s strongest-performing shows of the year and went on to win eight Emmy Awards. Despite that success, the second season wasn’t confirmed until October 2024, a full year and a half after the debut run.

So while the wait might feel frustrating, there’s a chance it won’t take quite as long this time around. The delay previously may have been down to working out the show’s evolving format, particularly the decision to continue as an anthology series after it was initially conceived as a limited run.

There are also encouraging hints from behind the scenes. In an interview with Rolling Stone, creator Lee Sung Jin revealed he has a “big general idea” for the future of the series. While he didn’t go into detail, he did confirm he already has “three seasons mapped out” in his head.

So while nothing is official just yet, Beef season 3 is certainly looking promising, even if the show is in no rush to tell us more.

What could happen in Beef season 3?

Honestly, anything could happen in Beef season 3. Each season tells a completely new story with a brand-new cast, much like The White Lotus. But instead of being loosely connected by a chain of luxury hotels — step aside, Hilton — it’s all tied together by a single idea: a feud.

Season one followed a road rage incident that spiralled into an all-consuming conflict. Season two escalated things into a chaotic war between couples. So perhaps season three will push things even further, like two entire families at war, or maybe even rival workplaces going head-to-head.

After season one, some fans even theorised that season three could follow Amy’s daughter, June, as the central character, exploring the lingering trauma caused by the original events.

When would Beef season 3 be released?

You’re about to be very disappointed. Beef season 1 landed in April 2023, with season 2 following in April 2026 — yes, a full three-year gap. However, as mentioned, it also took around 18 months for season 2 to even be officially renewed.

So if season 2 receives a similar wave of critical acclaim and fan enthusiasm as the first, there’s a chance renewal could happen more quickly this time around. Once renewed, the gap from confirmation to release has so far been roughly 18 months, so there is at least some reason for optimism.

Right now, our best guess is that Beef season 3 could arrive in April 2028 — especially as the show seems to favour that release month — though a winter 2028 drop is also possible, depending on when renewal is confirmed.

Is there a trailer for Beef season 3?

Given that the show hasn’t been renewed, and certainly hasn’t been scripted or filmed yet, there is no trailer for Beef season 3. Instead, the most recent footage available is still the season 2 trailer.

Who would star in a potential Beef season 3?

The cast of Beef changes with each season, and so far there hasn’t been a recurring “anchor” star across multiple instalments — no Jennifer Coolidge-style throughline just yet. If the season 3 theory is correct, we could see an older actress take on the role of June, with potential returns from Remy Holt, as well as Amy (Ali Wong) and George (Joseph Lee) from season 1.
