The best beauty looks from the GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards 2022 red carpet
GLAMOUR's Women of the Year Awards are back - and the attendees served some serious beauty looks on the red carpet.
Honouring the gamechangers and feminist heroes who inspire us every single day, the awards, in partnership with Samsung, are back with a bang for the first time in five years to celebrate the event's 16th anniversary and to mark the occasion, the attendees certainly brought their beauty A-game.
The red carpet is always the perfect place to trial new beauty trends - whether it's a new hairstyle, bold lip or jazzy eyeshadow look - and the WOTY red carpet was no exception.
First to arrive was the imitable Charithra Chandra, star of Netflix’s smash hit period drama Bridgerton. Charithra’s character Edwina has been crowned the ‘diamond of the season’ at The Queen’s Ball. She’s embroiled in one of the greatest love triangles of all time with her sister Kate (Simone Ashley), and Lord Bridgerton himself (Jonathan Bailey). It was the definition of a breakout role, but it was more than that – it changed the game in terms of representation of South Asian women.
Not only did Bridgerton show the traditional side of the characters’ lives – including a Haldi ceremony, which showed Edwina, Kate and their mother covering themselves in turmeric, oil and water to bestow blessings upon the fateful marriage – but Edwina was a fleshed-out, multifaceted, multidimensional representation that we have long needed on our screens. And at our awards, Charithra looked incredible. Her raven locks were styled in an old-school Hollywood glamour updo, with her hairstylist Patrick Wilson revealing that he took inspiration from Audrey Hepburn in the classic movie Breakfast at Tiffany's. Detailing the creative process, Charithra's make-up artist Kenneth Soh stated that because her look was so glamorously feminine, he wanted to add a bit more sass with jet-black eyeliner.
Bridgerton takes over the red carpet.

Also slaying on the red carpet was Cynthia Erivo, who is about to play the good-girl-turned-bad-green-witch Elphaba in the prequel to The Wizard Of Oz, opposite pop queen Ariana Grande (Glinda) and Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey (Prince Fiyero). Discussing her soft, glowy look, Cynthia's MUA said: “Cynthia's look today is very soft yet strong. It's more of a feminine strength; it's all about soft, glowy skin, with a beautiful sculpt on her cheekbones. On the eyes, I wanted a really soft feline flick. I'm also working with neutral tones, browns and beiges – minimal black – just to keep it on the soft and elegant side. I used a bronzey-orangey glow in terms of blusher and a lovely natural velvet nude lip.” Feminine strength? We're in to it.
And elaborating on Cynthia's hair, Earl Simms said: “Grooming the gorgeous Cynthia, I paid attention to the short texture by adding a little of gel and a little bit of serum. You work it through with your fingers, then go through the short crop with a very small hairbrush – the ones that look almost like a toothbrush – and just brush every bit of texture until it gives that gorgeous little shine on the cropped hair.”
Elsewhere, Emily Carey rocked a vampy beauty look with her signature smokey eye and glossy skin, Rochelle Humes wore her raven hair flowing and Rita Ora wore her hair tousled.
As our photoThe GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards was truly back with a bang.
