Whisper wings is the new eyeliner trend that's going to be everywhere in autumn
Winged eyeliner is a timeless makeup look that existed long before Ariana Grande was even in the womb. And you can bet it will be worn years after her comeback tour, too.
Constantly reinvented to suit seasons and trends, this year alone we've seen white eyeliner take off in spring and floating crease liner favoured by celebs.
But GLAMOUR's beauty desks is officially calling our new favourite and most wearable eyeliner trend yet, and we're naming it the 'whisper wings'.
This new take on an old classic sees the same wing-like extension of the eyeliner drawn outwards from the outer corner of the eye. But rather than the line being quite bold, creating a sharp contrast, it's created using only a whisper of colour.
Not only do these subtler wings make mistakes less noticeable, but it's flattering on all eye shapes as the colour remains sheer and therefore doesn't take away from the eyelid, or create a shrinking effect.
The smokier version of a winged eye can be created with the precision of a pencil, and then softened with a smudging brush and small buffing movements. Or you can ditch eyeliner altogether and use eyeshadow with an eyeliner brush for a dustier finish. It can also be as easy as swapping your bold, black, liquid eyeliner for a soft and smudgeable brown or grey pencil.

By creating a faint, but still visible flick, the eyes are defined but not overbearing, making whisper wings the ideal trend to pair with a plum pout or berry stain. Autumn, we're ready.
