Has anyone else got a thousand weddings to attend this year? Spring marks the start of wedding season*, so the search for spring wedding guest dresses has well and truly commenced. The best ones, at that.
You'd be forgiven for thinking you can get away with re-wearing one of your summer wedding guest dresses from last year – which we always advise from a sustainability point of view – but March through 'til mid-June has been known to remain rather chilly. So, unless you want a side of goosebumps for an accessory, you have two options. One: invest in a cardigan or blazer at the very least. Two? How I tested spring wedding guest dresses
The Glamour team attends their fair share of weddings ever year, so why not show you what we're wearing to them all? No gatekeeping here. I enlisted Kemi Alemoru (Head of Editorial Content), Elle Turner (Beauty Editor), Ali Pantony (Digital Director) and Robyn Eugene (Social Media Manager) to style their best wedding guest dresses for spring. Why you can trust me
I've been a fashion writer for over five years now, and have worked in the retail industry for more than 10. I know a good-quality spring wedding guest dress when I see it (at the various press days I attend) and feel it (I've attended at least two weddings a year since I can remember). That said, I'm very aware that I can't speak for every woman when it comes to fit and preference; I'm 6ft tall and a size UK 12. So because of that, I roped in my fellow Glamour colleagues – seen above – who are all different heights and shapes to style and test some alongside me in a bid to give a more accurate and inclusive outlook.
Spring wedding guest dresses are the perfect in-between style, with enough coverage on the arms or legs to keep you from catching a cold – but light in hue to reflect the time of year. And if this year's SS runways are anything to go by, capes, cap-sleeves, ruched details and floaty/fluttery fabrics are the way to do it.
