Searches for pink jeans are up by 253% since Sex Education's Ruby Matthews wore a pair – here's where to buy them

If you’ve not heard of the iconic Netflix series Sex Education by now, where have you been? However, if you’re up to date with the most recent season, you’ll most likely still be in awe over the costuming. A masterpiece in itself, alongside the story line, the wardrobe behind each character gave nostalgic nods to the ‘80s and ‘90s all while remaining current – it left us feeling as though an update to our fashion repertoire was very much needed. Especially when it came to the clothing Ruby Matthews wore.

People went mad on Twitter about the yellow bra she donned in the first episode of the new series, and the same can be said for her pink skinny jeans. Since the programme aired, searches for pink jeans have shot up by 253% according to Pretty Little Thing. That’s some serious influencing – Ruby would be proud.

Resident Moordale baddie Ruby, played by Mimi Keene, has had quite the character arc since the show began. The quintessential ‘mean girl’ started out as the leader of The Untouchables in series one before becoming Otis Milburn's first sexual partner in the second series and showing us her softer side in the third. Alongside her mushier personality came a more colourful and likeable style sense. Things like printed denim and pastel hues became her go-to and reflected her story line well.

We weren’t surprised to see pink skinny jeans on Ruby. As someone who doesn't shy away from attention, why would she opt for plain old blue or black jeans when she could go for something more bold and girly?
