Platform boots are the fashion crowd's footwear of choice right now – here are the styles to buy

We're on the brink of spring, and one of the most exciting parts of the dawn of a new season is updating our shoe collection. Platform boots might not be the first thing you think of given the hope of higher temperatures, but you'll be grateful of cosier footwear when you want to brave going bare-legged and there's still a chill in the air. They can be paired with mini skirts, shorts and dresses - whatever the weather, they serve.

But what style of platform boot to go for? Of course, there are the classics that make waves year after year courtesy of the likes of Bottega Veneta, GANNI, Versace, Alexander McQueen and more; the chunky Chelsea boot, the lace-up combat boot and the calf-high and knee-high iterations to name a few.

We know from witnessing said brand's AW22 shows that platform boots - which take inspo from two of the best decades (the '70s and '90s, obvs) - are set to be a mainstay. Striking the balance between comfort and height perfectly (petite girls, listen up), they’ve maintained a strong presence on our Instagram feeds since they were first spotted - and drooled over - on the AW20 catwalks of Paco Rabanne, Dries Van Noten and Anna Sui.
