Meghan Markle is a big fan of this season's chicest trend (and you can probably recreate it from your own wardrobe)

While it may not be of the same scale as the Royal Tours that the pair had become accustomed to, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently took part in a whirlwind tour of New York in what was their first joint public appearance since welcoming their second child, daughter Lilibet, last June.

Surprising students at the P.S. 123 Mahalia Jackson school in Harlem, New York, the pair joined NYC Schools Chancellor Meisha Porter to highlight the NYC Community Schools initiative. Meghan also took the opportunity to read her new children's picture book The Bench, a story about the special relationship between a father and son seen through a mother's eyes.

Of course, those of us with an interest in all things fashion, have been keeping a very keen eye out for Meghan's latest looks – with a lack of ‘Royal style protocol’ to adhere to providing space for her to really experiment with her wardrobe. And the trouser suit chosen for this occasion in particular may have been one of her best looks yet.

Gotham

A slouchily-tailored look which gave her that thoroughly modern, chic silhouette, this raspberry red Loro Piana two-piece not only looked sensational on Meghan but also proved that we're not the only ones with a keen interest in what's trending on the sartorial scene.

Tapping into one of the hottest trends this season, this was a head-to-toe monochrome look which even incorporated a pair of pointed court shoes within the colour scheme.

This idea of ‘solo saturation’ was a recurring one on the autumn/winter runways, with everyone from Elleme, Molly Goddard and Versace (below, L-R), to Ferragamo, Raf Simons, Bottega Veneta, Prada, Loewe, JW Anderson, Chanel, Burberry and Roksanda all referencing the monosyllabic colour trend.
