Meghan Markle proves that beige is anything but boring as she nails the quiet luxury trend
The Duchess of Sussex may not make as many red carpet appearances as she once did, but when Meghan Markle does step out for a public appearance in an evening gown you can be sure that it'll be a pretty major one.
Arriving at the Variety Power of Women event in LA last night, Meghan proved that she's still got a keen sartorial eye as she tapped into one of 2023's biggest trends; quiet luxury.
Wearing a super chic neutral look, Meghan was photographed wearing a sand-coloured drop shoulder dress by Proenza Schouler. Who ever said beige was boring?
She paired the dress with a clutch bag by the same label, Aquazzura shoes and Mejuri's Charlotte Bold Ring and Chunky Huggies Hoops.
Earlier this month Meghan made a graceful sartorial statement during her visit to military veterans and their families at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, opting for a navy Carolina Herrera wool cardigan embroidered with red and black poppies.
The Duchess of Sussex attended the opening of the state-of-the-art facility with her husband, Prince Harry, who also wore a Royal British Legion poppy as a statement of the couple's support for the Armed Forces.
Markle paired the cardigan with a Lafayette 148 New York Black Rafferty midi skirt, which she has worn previously on a number of occasions – including when she narrated and appeared in a video for Fisher House Foundation, an organisation that builds homes for military and veteran families to stay while their loved one is in hospital.

And here's a look at the cardigan in colour… Sadly, it's now out of stock.
The Duchess of Sussex later changed into a Giorgia Armani Mulberry silk jacket, which she wore to attend the official opening of a new veteran's facility ahead of Veteran's Day on the 11th of November.
Although Meghan Markle has officially left the UK for Los Angeles and stepped away from her royal title, it's still a joy to witness her style evolution.
For her first engagement, since she and Harry announced they were stepping down as senior working royals, Meghan opted for a vibrant blue bodycon dress by Victoria Beckham at the annual Endeavour Fund Awards in London.
Meghan then used the royal couple's Instagram account to share behind the scene snaps from private events to give us even more insight into her post-royal wardrobe (notably an incredible navy crepe-knit Scanlan Theodore dress, which she chose for a talk with students and academics who had won scholarships from the Association of Commonwealth Universities).
Since moving Stateside, however, it seems that Meghan is plumping for a more casual wardrobe. Our evidence came when the new mother reminded us all of the power of a denim shirt as she released a video of her reading to son Archie to highlight Save the Children UK's coronavirus appeal.

Since then, we've only been treated to a few glimpses of her LA looks, but she's favouring the basic white T-shirts and casual trousers aesthetic for everything from family days out to sitting in the garden with Gloria Steinem to talk all things women's rights and empowerment.
Of course, on her return to London this summer for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, casual white t-shirts were very much off the menu as Meghan's wardrobe welcomed a particularly beautiful Dior haute couture look for the momentous occasion.
