The beauty investments that GLAMOUR editors really rate

We understand that luxury fashion – and investing in timeless wardrobe essentials – will level-up our wardrobes for years to come. As for beauty? Investing in your skin, hair and complexion is a commitment, but it also pays clear dividends. Premium skincare is more popular than ever before, while luxury perfume is arguably the greatest signature piece in your wardrobe. It leaves a tantalising trail of scent in its wake everywhere you go.
If you ask us, seeking out beauty products that go the extra mile – backed up by research, development, innovation and efficacy – makes a slightly higher price tag worth paying. Likewise, beauty treats that add a touch of decadence and a smile to your daily routine, making us look and feel great, are a good way to go. That's why we've rounded up our favourite luxe beauty buys that have landed on the GLAMOUR beauty desk over the course of the last year. Expensive, perhaps, but according to our thorough testing, always worth your money.

Here, our beauty editors reveal the investment beauty buys they're currently coveting…
Clé de Peau Beauté UV Protective Cream SPF 50+
The rich texture of this cream feels super luxe (it has to be the most pleasing sunscreen texture I have ever used) and the added skincare benefits make it more like an expensive moisturiser than a utilitarian sunscreen. I let it double up as my moisturiser and sunscreen in one during warmer months, so there's already a cost saving! Plus the 50ml tube size makes it perfect for travel and stashing in your hand bag. Once absorbed it leaves a smooth, primed finish for makeup and, with zero white residue, it suits all skin tones.

Dior Jasmin des Anges Liquid Soap
Is there anything more decadent than washing your hands in Dior? It feels like the ultimate indulgence to me, so I have a very hygienic obsession with Dior's bath and body products. My favourite is the Jasmin Des Anges Liquid Soap. As you wash, the beautiful white floral scent radiates to fill your bathroom – prompting a moment to pause and breathe it all in.

Augustinus Bader The Light Cream
This cult cream lives up to its reputation, so it's one I am happy to go back to time and time again. The Light Cream is the best fit for my combination T-Zone and drier outer areas, moisturising without clogging pores. (I find the Rich Cream is just that, too rich for me.) It's a reliable all-rounder that ensures my skin is what I call well behaved – moisturised, protected, with no breakouts and looking its best, with very minimal input from me.

MyBlend MyLEDMask
This LED face mask is a ‘skinvestment’, but if you are going to spend your time and cash you want results, right? It's so easy to use with settings to suit your skin tone. It covers the face and neck and delivers pro-grade light, with clinical trials demo'ing a decrease in skin age by 3 years. I pop this on when I’m chilling at home on the sofa and can see and feel the difference with brighter, toned skin after each use.

Hermès Plein Air H Trio Healthy Glow Mineral Powder
I still like to look bronzed in autumn - but just a whisper of warmth so it looks like I’ve babied my skin and clung on to my summer tan. I always lean into this Hermès bronzer at this time of year and I’ll be doing so again now that the seasons are changing. It’s exceptionally finely milled and contains both iridescent and matte powders – so you can build depth and glow (I skip highlighter whenever I use it). Best of all, it's lightweight enough for just a sheer veil of believable colour.

Diptyque Garden of Morpheus L Tray
I’ve been looking for a decorative tray to make a feature of the perfumes on my dressing table. I’ve always loved the artistry on the Diptyque perfume labels so I couldn’t resist this porcelain tray, which takes those delicate pen strokes and magnifies them. I chose the largest tray (I have a lot of perfumes!) but each one is embellished with drawings inspired by fables from mythology. Truly special.

Balmain Beauty Rouge, 50ml EDP
There’s something quite ‘80s about this fragrance bottle – reflecting a decade when many game-changing, blockbuster scents were created. Rouge has an element of that unapologetic boldness. According to Balmain, it “radiates addictive love” and I can see why. Of course there’s the red bottle, but there’s also a heady floral thread throughout comprising exotic lilies, magnolia and ylang ylang, balanced by woodiness. It’s warm, slightly sweet with a hint of something nose-twitchingly edible. I’m someone who typically avoids floral perfumes but it seriously set my pulse racing, and I've been wearing it on repeat.

Chanel Sublimage L'Extrait De Lotion
Using a pre-serum – the step immediately after your cleanser but before your serum – is a luxury in itself. But if, like me, your skin throws a temper tantrum in autumn, any additional hydrating steps can mean the difference between OK skin and good skin. My skin drank up the Sublimage L’Extrait de Lotion overnight and, when patted over the face, its gel-like texture also helped my regular serum dive into my pores more effectively. Another confession: it gave me the same thrill as wearing an expensive piece of jewellery.

Cult Gaia Mast Eau de Parfum
This newly launched scent from cool-girl brand Cult Gaia is honestly hypnotising. It’s lush, uplifting and sexy but in the most elegant way. And, even though it’s lightweight, it’s also cocooning, which is perfect heading into autumn (and out the other side into spring next year). It opens with a burst of citrusy Italian bergamot and a whisper of creamy coconut. Sweet Brazilian Cumaru brings woodiness and warmth and orange blossom adds softness. To keep it grounded, vetiver, amber and musk linger in the base, for a scent that’s bound to bring compliments. As for the bottle? It’s an actual work of art. And if a soulful citrus is not your type, the brand also has a pretty skin scent (Zan) and a rosy floral (Noor) that complete its fragrance trio.

Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Complexion Drops
Celebrity makeup artist Gucci Westman creates some of the most beautiful products in the business. She’s mastered that no-makeup makeup skin that just looks expensive. The good news is, we can access it, too, because Gucci's secret sauce to great skin comes in the form of her tinted complexion drops. If you like an ultra-healthy, fresh, dewy complexion this is stunning.

RéVive Sensitif Calming Serum
For starters, this feels like the silkiest cloud of a product to apply. It’s so glossy and lightweight. As for how it sits on the skin, mine drinks this up like it’s a cocktail (and it is, in its own way). Mixed and shaken with the brand’s signature Bio Renewal Peptide, alongside yoghurt, liquorice, and chamomile extracts, this does an immediate job of calming red, inflammatory-prone skin. The bonus? It’s also an IRL Paris filter that make barefaced days more tempting. If not, it creates the smoothest canvas for makeup.
