Dua Lipa reveals her beauty secrets 💄💄💄
Dua Lipa is officially our favourite rising star of the moment. She's cool, ultra talented and we love her style. We chatted to the young singer about her beauty secrets, from icons to go-to products, as well as her very own lip gloss, which she created with Mac Cosmetics...
I’m obsessed with Mac Groundwork, which comes in a little pot and has a really creamy texture. I use it as eyeshadow as well as a bronzer, too. It’s very multi-purpose. I love things like that where I don’t have to have too much in my makeup bag.
I also love Mac's Velvet Teddy Lipstick, which I use under my lip gloss. When you put this on you just immediately feel more done up; it's a really lovely lip colour.
I love Instagram – there are so many cool sources of inspiration and art on there. There are amazing beauty tutorials on there, for example.
I especially freak out over Pat Mcgrath’s Instagram – I just love looking at it with all the cool colours and everything she does. I try to recreate the looks for my live shows with all the glitter. It’s just such a good source of inspiration.

Someone who I love who always plays around with their makeup looks is Lady Gaga – you never really know what to expect and there’s always something really exciting about it. Every performance, she has a really different look. Alongside her outfits, her makeup is always so inventive and so cool.
I still love the 90s and all of the looks from that decade – everything is really natural with either a bold eyeshadow or a lip colour. It’s so fun and fresh. I was born in '95 but I feel like I have still been able to experience that era at my age. I think if I went back I would have a lot of fun!
My beauty look really depends on what I want to put out there with the video. I try not to go too crazy with videos, makeup-wise, but I guess it all just depends on the mood of the track. I like playing around with looks and changing it up. But when you’re telling a story I think it’s nice to just pick one look and go with it.
I’ve always been really inspired by makeup and Mac is a brand that I have personally always used, so it was so exciting to be approached by them to collaborate! It's cool to put who I am into a product. It’s something I’ve never done before.
I love lip glosses and I have always wanted one that you can wear from the day to the evening, as well as on top of your lip colour. That’s why I thought a clear gloss would always be best as you can do so much with it. And then adding the glitter into it kind of gives it that bit of glam. In my everyday style, I like wearing something and feeling comfortable, but then adding some glitter or something.
I chose the texture to be a creamsheen because I prefer the non-sticky feel. It feels more hydrating.

"My father [Kosovo musician Dukagjin Lipa] was a musician so I’ve always been really inspired by him and living in a really musical household," she told GLAMOUR. "Those are the things that really inspired me and I feel like it was inevitable to fall into this as a career. My parents listened to a lot of Bowie, Bob Dylan, The Stereophonics and Sting - The Police, Radiohead.

Dua wasn't discovered on Youtube, but she did use it as a platform to kickstart her music career. "When I was 15 I was posting covers online but it was never one of those things that went viral, it was more of a way for me to use it as a portfolio," she said.

Born in London, Dua moved to Kosovo with her family at the age of 11 only t move back on her own four years later. Speaking to GLAMOUR, she said: "I moved back to London on my own when I was 15. It was kind of scary but I always had friends round. I’d always be on the phone to my parents. It was fun. I didn’t really enjoy the cooking or the cleaning part but otherwise it was really fun and it’s made me who I am today."

Just like a whole host famous British musicians including Amy Winehouse, Dua attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London's Marylebone. "I'd go to school and then on Saturday's I'd go to the Silvia Young Theatre School. I made friends there and had people who were like minded," she revealed.

At the age of 18, Dua was snapped up by Warner Music. "I remember calling my parents in Kosovo and telling them to catch a flight to London so they could come to the signing," she said.

"Most of my inspiration comes from sadness because it’s the emotion that sticks in the back of my mind and the easiest way to get things out is through music," she explained in an interview.

Talking about her tattoos, Dua said: "I’ve got dancing thumbs [Keith Haring sick figures], which are my party trick because no one lets me do karaoke. I’ve got “Sunny Hill” on my arm (that’s my neighbourhood in Kosovo, and a palm tree on the back of my arm, which I got in LA.’

“I worked on a door at a nightclub and that was my worst job ever. I had management in my ear saying ‘yeah people can come in, people can’t’ and it came to the point where I had to turn down my own friends for wearing trainers. That was when I was like, ok I’m out.”

"My mum had a crush on him when I was really young and I saw him at the iTunes festival and I was life yeah, he’s pretty fit," she admitted in a recent interview.
