Perhaps it’s the fact that we’ve spent the better part of 19 months cooped up indoors, WFH in our loungewear comfies, but baggy clothes seem to have overtaken our wardrobes - and we’re not complaining. The sheer freedom that comes alongside wearing loose-fitted garments is one thing, but the sartorial benefits are another; you can both dress up and dress down roomy clothing.

A key staple we’ve been endlessly grateful for is oversized T-shirts. We can’t get enough of them, and it’s safe to say that the easy-to-wear silhouette isn’t going anywhere any time soon. Whether you wear yours as a dress or tuck it into your favourite jeans and wear it with a blazer, nothing compares to the appeal of that relaxed finish they give.

While vintage or hand-me-down iterations come with an unmatched title - there’s no greater feeling than wearing something retro - oversized T-shirts are not something that fashion has forgotten. As of late, that borrowed-from-the-boys ‘90s vibe has very much come back into swing - in fact, it’s a concept that many designer and high street brands strive to perfect. Just look at labels such as AllSaints, COS and The Row; oversized is their middle name.

When we think about the end goal of creating the perfect capsule wardrobe, one of the mainstays would be an oversized T-shirt. They don’t fall in and out of favour like other fashion fads do, but instead continue to be one of the most hardworking pieces you can own (akin to your white shirts, black leggings and knitwear) for a multitude of reasons.
