You can pretty much guarentee that any wellness enthusiast — or TikTok-obsessive — is now well acquainted with greens powder supplements, (highly) praised for their ability to plug any nutritional gaps when incorporated into a healthy diet. But do greens powder supplements actually work? Or are they just another wellness trend that isn't backed by evidence?
“Many green powders contain fibre-rich ingredients like wheatgrass and barley grass, which can support digestive health by promoting regular bowel movements and feeding beneficial gut bacteria,” says Dr Chandni Rajani. “Similarly, ingredients like ginger and peppermint, which are common in green powders, are known for their ability to soothe the digestive tract and reduce bloating.” Simply put: the best greens powders offer a convenient and quick way to reap the crucial nutritional benefits of many vegetables, fruits, and superfoods.

Since 2024, the GLAMOUR team has made it a priority to personally test a host of greens powders to track down the very best. Each volunteer — writers and editors who differ in terms of their age, lifestyle and experience with supplements — trialled one each for six weeks.
During that time, they were asked to consider each powder's ease of use, efficacy — AKA how long until you noticed a difference — taste and value for money. Unsurprisingly, only the top-rated made it into our edit below. But we also trawled the customer reviews for key pros and cons, considering our tastes, priorities and needs all differ. So, ready to dive in?
Ahead, the best greens powders to shop in 2025, approved by GLAMOUR's shopping editors:
What are the benefits of taking a greens powder every day?
Let's start with the basics: what are greens powders actually for? They're by no means a replacement for eating a balanced diet, but greens powders are supposed to be great for plugging any nutritional gaps. Chances are you aren't reaping the benefits of less readily available ingredients like stress-reducing ashwagandha root, or skin-detoxifying chlorella, in your day-to-day diet.
This may boost your overall energy levels, while the additional vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants found in most greens powders could also help improve your skin health. “Vitamins C and E can help protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals, while ingredients like spirulina and chlorella are rich in chlorophyll — which may help detoxify the skin and promote a clearer complexion,” adds Rajani.

Is there anything that you should be looking out for when shopping for greens powders?
Unfortunately, not all greens powders are made equally, so Rajani urges you to take a proper look at the ingredients before you settle on a single product. “When choosing a green powder supplement, avoid products with added sugars, artificial flavours, and fillers,” she adds. “If possible, look for products that are organic and have undergone third-party testing for quality and purity.”
But we also urge you not to hand your hard-earned cash to anyone (brand or person) who tries to sell you greens powders as a speedy weight-loss solution. They’re a fantastic supplement, but by no means a meal replacement. “While they can be a part of a healthy weight loss plan, they are not a magic solution and should be combined with a balanced diet and regular exercise,” Rajani details.
