BAFTAs 2024: The best dresses and outfits from the carpet you need to see immediately
The BAFTAs returned for 2024, and all eyes were on the illustrious red carpet (apparently there were some brilliant speeches, too).
Celebrities arrived in their droves at the Royal Festival Hall in London's Southbank Centre, where the official ceremony will be taking place. And with London Fashion Week firmly underway this week, it's fair to say that our sartorial expectations were high for the 77th EE British Academy Film Awards.
The awards were hosted by none other than British actor (and legend) David Tennant, while the likes of Ayo Edibiri, Carey Mulligan, Emerald Fennell, Margot Robbie, and Emma Stone were all nominated for some ~major~ gongs.
Dua Lipa, who presented the award for Outstanding British Film, graced the red carpet wearing a sweeping red gown to complement her cherry cola hair. Meanwhile, Ayo Edibiri – nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award – took to the red carpet wearing a salmon Bottega Venetta gown, accessorised with a feather boa and elbow-length gloves. Oh, and earrings from Tiffany & Co, obviously.
However, it was Mia McKenna-Bruce who took home the award – and she did so in style, wearing a black Carolina Herrera gown with accessories by Cartier jewellery.
And here to remind us that it's a Barbie world – and we're just living in it – was Margot Robbie. She wore a black and pink column gown from Armani Privé paired with elbow-length black gloves – do we spy a trend coming on? Yes, we do: Da'Vine Joy Randolph – who won ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’ for The Holdovers – accessorised her Robert Wun gown with a pair of, you guessed it, opera gloves. You heard it here first…
Here's our round-up of the very best dressed on the red carpet at the BAFTAs 2024…
