In a recent interview with The Mirror, Zendaya opened up about working alongside her fiancé, describing Holland as not only her “favourite person,” but also her “favourite person to work with.”
“On set, he has this huge calming presence that not only puts me at ease but also everybody he works with,” she said, highlighting the quiet confidence he brings to every project.
She also spoke candidly about striking a balance between their very public careers and fiercely guarded private life — with the couple splitting their time between Los Angeles and London.
“Neither of us want to hide and not live our lives and do normal things like go out for dinner, but at the same time we want to protect our privacy,” she explained. “You have to accept that to a degree some aspects of your privacy are going to be out of your control. But the parts that are in our control, we fiercely protect.”
Zendaya also touched on life in the UK, revealing that Holland’s home country has started to feel like her own. “When I go to the UK, I don’t feel like a visitor any more. I understand British slang, I get the culture, and I know a ‘nice cup of tea’ makes everything right.”
On set for their newest film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the pair were spotted cuddling between takes, laughing with the crew and holding hands. They get to hang out for a living?!

Holland's father, Dominic, spills details on the proposal: “Tom, as you know by now, was very incredibly well prepared,” he shared. “He had purchased a ring. He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter. Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear.”
Engagement rumours began swirling after Zendaya stepped onto the Golden Globes red carpet wearing a strikingly large diamond on her left ring finger. Fans also spotted a subtle “t” tattoo on her ribcage, which many believe was a nod to Holland — and while we’re usually cautious about couple tattoos, we’ll happily make an exception here.
Less than 24 hours after the Golden Globes appearance, PEOPLE confirmed that Zendaya and Holland were engaged. According to reports first published by TMZ, a source said Holland had proposed during the holiday period between Christmas and New Year, at one of Zendaya’s family homes.
Speaking to Men’s Health for the magazine’s January–February 2025 cover, Holland explained why he prefers to stay off the red carpet when Zendaya is attending her premieres.
“Because it’s not my moment, it’s her moment, and if we go together, it’s about us,” he said. We're swooning so hard right now.
The couple stepped out in coordinated burgundy looks to celebrate the New York launch of Bero (drink brand), the non-alcoholic beverage label recently founded by Holland. The event, held at Nine Orchard, marked a stylish milestone for the brand as the pair mingled with guests and posed together in effortlessly elegant matching tones.
During an appearance on the Rich Roll podcast, Tom Holland shared that using the carpentry skills he learned from his late grandfather to help fix and build things for Zendaya is one of his “favourite things.”
“If something breaks in Zendaya’s house, I take huge pride in fixing it,” he said. “The other day, she has this guest room that… it wasn’t the greatest room. It needed some love.”
He went on to describe building custom cupboards and installing a wardrobe. “I fitted it so it looked like it was part of the wall, and I was very proud of myself.”
As Holland wrapped up his run as Romeo in the London West End production of Romeo & Juliet, Zendaya was photographed arriving at the Duke of York Theatre ahead of his final show.
Carrying a bouquet of flowers, she was seen heading into the theatre to support Holland’s closing performance.
Spotted at the BNP Paribas Open finals in Indian Wells, California, Zendaya and Tom Holland looked like they had stepped straight out of Challengers in their sleek sports-chic outfits.
During the match, the pair were also seen singing along to I Wanna Dance with Somebody, which was playing over the stadium speakers.
In a beloved BuzzFeed puppy interview, Zendaya was asked which member of the Dune cast had the most “rizz.” While she joked that everyone has their own charisma, she chose to highlight Tom Holland instead of naming a co-star.
“I think someone who has beautiful charisma, not on the Dune cast, but personally works for me, is Mr. Tom Holland,” she said. “I’m more shy and kind of quiet, so it takes a bit more to pull me out of my shell. But he’s great at just talking to people, getting to know people.”
Reflecting on their early days together, Holland shared that he and Zendaya sometimes revisit their 2017 film Spider-Man: Homecoming to relive the beginnings of their shared journey.
“Zendaya and I will, every now and then, watch Spider-Man 1 and reminisce about being 19 and making those movies again,” he said in an interview with Extra at the 2024 Critics’ Choice Awards.
“I love those movies, and I love savouring those moments, so I try not to watch them as often as I would maybe like to because it’s so special. It’s such a luxury, such a gift to be able to sit down and sort of relive your youth.”
For two people with such immense star power, Zendaya and Holland have managed to keep their relationship relatively low-key. Speaking to Elle, Zendaya said she has come to accept that her relationship with Holland naturally attracts public interest, though she still hopes for a life where paparazzi aren’t constantly tracking their every move.
“I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love,” she said. “You can’t hide. That’s not fun either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”
“It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist,” she added.
On an episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty, Holland said his relationship with Zendaya is what he holds “most sacred.”
“I don’t talk about it. I try my best to keep it as private as possible. We both feel very strongly that that is the healthiest way to move on as a couple,” he said, adding that he feels most like himself when he’s with her.
Speaking to UNILAD about his love of carpentry, Holland shared a sweet anecdote about impressing Zendaya early in their relationship.
“I fixed my girlfriend’s door once really early on in our relationship,” he said. “I was hanging out at her house and her door was broken. I was like, ‘I’m gonna fix that door for you.’ And now we’re in love.”
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tom Holland spoke about how he and Zendaya intentionally keep the details of their relationship private.
“Our relationship is something that we are incredibly protective of and we want to keep as sacred as possible,” he said. “We don’t think that we owe it to anyone — it’s our thing, and it has nothing to do with our careers.”
Just like many other couples, Zendaya and Holland enjoy going to concerts together.
During his Las Vegas residency at Park MGM’s Dolby Live, Usher playfully called out the pair, telling the crowd, “Zendaya is in the house, ladies and gentlemen. Tom Holland is in the house, ladies and gentlemen.”
Later, Zendaya shared a video on her Instagram Story, writing, “When I tell you we barely had a voice by the end of this. Childhood dreams come true, going to an @usher concert.”
The couple travelled to Mumbai for the opening of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre. However, Holland and Zendaya chose to walk the event’s red carpet separately.

In the City of Love, Zendaya and Holland were spotted enjoying a romantic day date at the Louvre Museum, where they were seen holding hands while wandering through the galleries.

At the Euphoria FYC event, Zendaya spoke to Entertainment Tonight about the support she receives from Holland while working on the emotionally demanding role of Rue.
She explained that having love and support around her helps her “free” herself from the intensity of the character. “I think it’s great to have that support and love around you, because you need that,” she said, adding that stepping away from the darker aspects of the role is important because the job can be emotionally taxing.
In another beloved BuzzFeed puppy interview, Holland said he would love to guest star on HBO’s Euphoria.
“I would be in Euphoria. I think I would be a really good Maddy,” he joked, referring to the character played by Alexa Demie. “I’m a big Euphoria fan. I love the show and I love season 2. I visited a lot while they were shooting it and I really, really enjoyed it.”
He added that he would be happy to appear as a guest star or even an extra — and teased, “Or maybe I am and you just don’t know.”
That same month, the pair were spotted leaving the premiere of Holland’s film Uncharted, walking out together after celebrating the release.
Just before the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Zendaya shared a deeply sentimental post dedicated to Holland.
The first image showed Holland suspended on cables in his iconic red-and-blue Spider-Man suit, followed by a throwback photo of him dressed as the character as a child.
“My Spider-Man, I’m so proud of you,” she wrote in the caption. “Some things never change and good thing ♥️.”
In a November 2021 interview with GQ, Holland spoke briefly about his desire to keep his romantic life private despite living in the public eye.
“One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore,” he said. “A moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world.”
Zendaya echoed similar feelings, describing the public’s access to her personal life as “confusing and invasive.”
“When you really love and care about somebody, some moments or things, you wish were your own,” she said. “I think loving someone is a sacred thing — something special that you want to experience and enjoy between the two people who love each other.”
To celebrate Zendaya’s 25th birthday, Holland shared a cosy mirror selfie of the two together, paired with a sweet message.

“My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays. Gimme a call when you’re up xxx,” he captioned the photo, which shows him wearing his Spider-Man suit while Zendaya stands close behind him, capturing the moment on camera.
“Calling now ♥️,” Zendaya replied just a few hours later.
The Spider-Man: No Way Home co-stars first truly ignited public dating rumours when Zendaya and Holland were spotted sharing a passionate kiss inside a car.
After so many rumours, we finally have confirmation.

With the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, co-stars Zendaya and Holland did a string of joint interviews while promoting the film.
Much of the conversation centred on their on-screen kiss, with questions frequently directed at their height difference. Holland called the focus on it a “stupid assumption,” adding during a Sirius XM Town Hall panel that people often exaggerated the difference.
“[Zendaya’s] not that much taller,” he said. “It’s not like people say, ‘How do you guys kiss? It must have been so difficult.’”
The pair stayed close between their Spider-Man projects, with Holland celebrating Zendaya’s debut at the Met Gala 2018.
Sharing a photo of her dressed as Joan of Arc on the red carpet, Holland wrote, “All hail the queen. Killing it mate.”
In August 2017, Zendaya told Variety she and Holland were not dating.
"We are friends," she said. "He's a great dude. He's literally one of my best friends. This past how many months we've had to do press tours together. There's very few people that will understand what that's like at 20 years old."
Shortly before the July 7 premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Holland told PEOPLE that Zendaya had helped him adjust to life in the spotlight.
"I'm a little worried [about dealing with fame … but] Zendaya is super famous and she's been through this and I just call her up and say, 'How do I manage being famous?' I'm very glad I have a friend like her," he added.
Around the same time, rumours began circulating that the pair were dating after months of filming together, appearing on each other’s social media, and attending red carpet events side by side.
On July 13, 2017, a source told PEOPLE that Holland and Zendaya had become romantically involved while filming Spider-Man.
"They started seeing each other while they were filming Spider-Man," said the insider. "They've been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they've gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another."
Added another source, "They're both really ambitious and they challenge each other, but most importantly, they make each other crack up. They seem to have a really similar sense of humour and love joking around together. They have great banter back and forth."
Zendaya shared Holland on her Instagram for the very first time, posting their joint Hollywood Reporter “Next Gen 2016” cover.
“Amidst all the chaos and sadness… this one good thing did happen to me today,” she wrote in the caption. “Honoured to share it with the very best… Spider-Man himself.”
Holland shared Zendaya on his Instagram for the first time that summer, posting a photo of the pair and another friend enjoying a pool day together.
He captioned the shot simply, “Summer Sunday’s.”
The story of Zendaya and Holland started in June 2016 when they met while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming.
According to later interviews and reports, the two got along well from the very beginning, laying the foundation for a friendship that would eventually turn into one of Hollywood’s most closely watched romances.
