Euphoria season 3 is almost here — and it has been a long wait.

The last season aired back in 2022 — so it's been a while since we caught up with the gang at East Highland High School. And, three years later, they're not actually in high school anymore. In fact, we'll be reintroduced to the characters five years after the events of the last season, well into their post-graduation lives.

Of course, the core cast – including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi and Hunter Schafer – will return, with the show's creator Sam Levinson at the helm once more. But in an even more exciting turn of events, we now know that Hollywood legend Sharon Stone is joining the Euphoria ranks for season 3.

“There is little more exciting than going to work with this team of thrilling talent," the Basic Instinct star has said, confirming her casting. "From the genius of Sam Levinson to the raw sophistication of this profoundly moving cast and tight crew. I am honoured to be Euphoric.”

Since the last season, Euphoria's stars have gone on to become, well, full-on movie stars.

Zendaya most recently starred in the new Christopher Nolan film, while Jacob Elordi starred in Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights alongside Margot Robbie this year as well.

“I know the show gets a lot of attention now because, you know, it has created some genuine movie stars, and they have various projects that are working on, but we are shooting this season, so nothing has changed,” Bloys added, also confirming that the new season will have eight episodes.

“I am thrilled that we are ready to begin production on Euphoria in January,” Francesca Orsi, head of HBO drama series and films, previously said in a statement. “We could not be happier with our creative partnership with Sam and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season of Euphoria to life for the fans.”

In an interview with Vogue, the show's costume designer teased more details, stating: “I’m really excited to read the scripts. There is talk of it being approximately five years in the future and that they’re not in high school anymore. Dorothy’s not in Kansas anymore. I mean, it might be a total trip. Who can say?”

Heidi added: “But knowing Sam’s brain, it’s gonna be exciting, and he will challenge all of us, because he won’t want to repeat himself. It’ll be something new for the audience to discover.” As of yet, the time jump has yet to be confirmed.

Season two of Euphoria continued to chronicle the main character Rue's (played by Zendaya) tempestuous struggle with addiction – as well as other juicy storylines, including Nate and Cassie's betrayal of Maddie and the modern love story that was #Fexi.

However, following Angus Cloud's untimely death in August this year, and news that another actor isn't returning for the third season, many fans are still wondering how the next story will pan out. Here's everything we know about season three of Euphoria, including cast news, release date and more.

Is there a UK release date for Euphoria season 3?

Euphoria season 3 will be released on 12 April, 2026. You'll be able to stream the show on Max (formerly HBO Max), Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.

Is there a trailer for Euphoria season 3?

The Euphoria trailer was initially illegally leaked ahead of its official release – which, honestly, is to be expected for a show this highly anticipated.

HBO Max’s teaser for TV royalty in 2026 offered just a brief glimpse of season 3, including Jacob Elordi flashing his abs and Sydney Sweeney dressed as a bunny. Horny stuff.

The full trailer, meanwhile, dropped plenty of drama: Cassie creating what seems to be OnlyFans content, Rue tangling with drug lords over owed money, and a wedding involving Nate. A lot is happening, and honestly, it’s giving major Breaking Bad meets The Idol vibes.

Fans are seemingly feeling mixed about the new trailer.

“The way it feels like a completely different show is honestly crazy haha,” one user wrote.

“The music slaps. The plot is something,” another said.

Another fan exclaimed, “WE’RE SO BACK."

Who will star in Euphoria season 3?

As well as Sharon Stone's entrance into the Euphoria world, Zendaya will star once again as Rue, with other returning fan favourites including Hunter Schafer, Eric Dane, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, and Colman Domingo.

In terms of newcomers to Euphoria for season 3, Rosalía, Martha Kelly, Chloe Cherry, Toby Wallace, Marshawn Lynch (Bottoms), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Anna Van Patten, Kadeem Hardison, James Landry Hébert, Priscilla Delgado and Darrell Britt-Gibson will all be joining Sharon Stone for the third instalment. Nika King (who played Leslie Bennett) and Algee Smith (who played Chris McKay) will not be returning.

Following Angus Cloud's death in August 2023, it's likely his character, Fezco, will be written out of the show. Elordi's character Nate called the police on his own father Cal Jacobs (played by Eric Dane) in the season 2 finale, and while we may see more of him, we're not sure how much just yet.

Dane previously told Variety: "There's gonna be redemption. That's the trajectory he's on. I can't imagine Cal's life from solitary confinement. It's tough to work Cal into the storyline when he's behind bars."

Sadly, Barbie Ferreira will not be returning as Kat. The star posted an emotional Instagram Story confirming that she won't be returning for the third season. “After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye,” her story read.

She opened up further on a podcast interview episode of Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard, confirming it was a “mutual decision” for her to leave the show because her character's story had ran its course.

"I don't think there was a place for her to go," she added of her character Kat. "I think there were places she could have gone. I just don't think it would have fit into the show. I don't know if it was going to do her justice, and I think both parties knew that I really wanted to be able to not be the fat best friend. I don't want to play that, and I think they didn't want that either."

"I just felt like, maybe it's like I overstayed my welcome a little bit?" she said. “So, for me, I actually felt good to be like, 'OK, I get to not worry about this and we both don't get too worried about this,' because it's exhausting.”

Season two newcomer Chloe Cherry has spoken out about her character Faye's journey for season three after her arrest at Fez's house during a police raid in season two. "I think Faye has a story of addiction to tell as Rue does; even though it’s different, I think that they could learn something from each other," she told Variety.

"I also think Rue is a non-judgmental character, and I think that is all Faye needs. I think if they got closer, they would get along because they have these shared experiences, and they are both chill girls in spite of it."

Tom Holland has also confessed that he'd love to make an appearance on the show, saying, "Listen, I have been petitioning for this for a long time, and it has not happened yet, and I'm very disappointed," adding that he must have gone to visit the Euphoria set “30 times.” We're here for it!

What is Euphoria season 3 about?

Exact details on Euphoria season 3’s plot remain scarce, but we can gather suggestions from the trailer.

We do know Cassie is creating OnlyFans content — possibly to make Nate jealous — while Zendaya’s Rue seems to be in hot water with some drug lords. Leaked set photos hint at tense storylines, including Rue handling drugs in a car, bedroom standoffs, and chases through locations like the Silver Slipper bar.

Other glimpses show Rue with Maude Apatow’s Lexi in a locker room, Hunter Schafer’s blonde Jules in an elevator, and Jacob Elordi’s Nate and Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie in various confrontations. A wedding, a strip club, and more to come!

Lexi asks Rue, “You heard about Jules?” suggesting a rift between the two. Plus it's hinted that she's a Sugar Baby now.

Will season 3 be the last series?

There have been rumours that Euphoria won't run for a super long time, particularly since it chronicles the lives of teenagers. Bloys previously told TVLine that the show “has a time limit” since the actors are getting older and can't portray high school students for too much longer.

He recently confirmed it would be Zendaya and creator Sam Levinson who make those decisions, however. “I will let Sam and Zendaya talk about (that),” he told the site. “I’m very excited about what they’ve got planned. So I will leave that to them. I will say, generally speaking, we trust where they want to take these characters. So we’ll let the creative team lead the way.”

More recently, HBO Head of Drama Francesca Orsi told Deadline: “We’ve talked about it, I don’t think anything is over until it’s over, but it’s been discussed that this is the end. I think you will be very satisfied with this season, and how we bring each of the characters’ whole narrative.”
