After what feels like an eternity of waiting, we're pleased to report that Wednesday season 2 is finally back on Netflix. Though after making swift work of the first half of the season, we can't help but wonder when we'll be getting our next hit. While there's a while to wait until that, thankfully the new Wednesday season 2 part 2 trailer has just dropped.
Serving up more mystery and mayhem than we know what to do with, we're feeling fully ready to embrace the summer of spooky in the form of the second instalment of our fave black comedy.
With Jenna Ortega reprising her role as the queen of darkness and blunt one-liners, in addition to some familiar faces, this season viewers will also be introduced to a host of new characters played by the likes of Lady Gaga and Joanna Lumley. Obsessed.
Wednesday season 2 sees Ortega's character return to Nevermore Academy for another school year, with her antics from last season having well and truly established her as the ‘saviour’ of the school, a title which brings with it a lot of overzealous pre-teen fanfare, AKA Wednesday's worst nightmare. And that's all before we've got to the several concerning visions she's started having, friendship and family drama mixed in there.
“Nothing is what it seems in Season 2,” the show's creator Miles Millar said in an interview with Tudum. “Wednesday goes into this season thinking she knows Nevermore. It’s the first time she’s returned to a school willingly. But as soon as she gets back, nothing happens that she’s expecting. She thinks she’s going to be in control, that she knows where all the bodies are buried, and she doesn’t.”
Sounds positively ghoulish.
With the first season landing back in October 2022, we've had almost three years of waiting for Wednesday season 2. The show racked up over 341 million hours in watch time over its first week, going on to become Netflix's most popular English-language series, so trust us when we say you're not alone if you've been desperately awaiting its return.
