Warning: Wednesday spoilers ahead!
Wednesday was the breakout show of 2022. And now, it's back for season 2 this summer.
The fabulous Jenna Ortega expertly fit into the popular cult titular role with her dead-pan mannerism while attending Nevermore Academy, a boarding school for supernaturally gifted students. She'll be joined by old and new faces for the second instalment, cast additions including Joanna Lumley and Lady Gaga.
Now, a trailer has finally dropped, and Netflix has confirmed that the new season will drop in two parts this summer and early autumn, respectively. We cannot wait.
Here's everything we know so far about Wednesday season 2, including initial thoughts on the new trailer.
The part 2 trailer has just dropped! Here we woe again.

Wednesday season 2 trailer
We see our gal Wednesday return to school with much fanfare for saving the school, to her absolute horror. She even suggests setting bear traps for her adoring followers.
A vision shows us something we never wanted to see – that Wednesday's best friend, werewolf and roommate Enid (Emma Myers) will die, and it will be all Wednesday's fault. Her mother seems to be helping her navigate her visions, having gone through a similar thing herself, meaning that hopefully we will be seeing more of Catherine Zeta Jones this season. “I will not let history repeat itself,” she promises Wednesday, as they go on a mission to save Enid “or die trying”.
Joanna Lumley's gothic look for the series is iconic, and she seems to be something of a mentor to Wednesday, advising her on her power and place as a woman in the world. No sign of Lady Gaga, though.
Give us more.
A teaser trailer dropped a couple months back with a rather jarring opening scene, with Wednesday making her way through airport security. Bizarre. She is forced to surrender the many weapons on her person, bringing us away from the mundanity of security checks to the true darkness of her nature – excellent fun.
We know Wednesday makes it back to Nevermore Academy, which she refers to as “returning to the scene of the crime”, presumably after the dramatic events of season 1.
There's suggestion of an Addams family secret being uncovered, Enid and Wednesday playing with dolls and all manner of monsters and action thrown into the mix.
Wednesday season 2 release date
Netflix has confirmed that Wednesday season 2 will drop in 2 parts – part one will drop on 6 August 2025, and part 2 will drop on 3 September 2025.
The streamer initially teased Wednesday's return with a cute-but-creepy video of Addams family favourite (and disembodied hand) Thing creating a portrait of himself and Wednesday on her infamous type writer.

Yes, little monsters, Lady Gaga is officially going to be featured in season two of the show, per Entertainment Weekly. We don't know who she'll be playing yet, but her casting just makes sense. After all, thanks to TikTok and that “Bloody Mary” trend, Gaga and Wednesday are intrinsically linked in our minds.
Surely, surely, Gaga will be doing the famous “Bloody Mary” dance at some point in the show?? (We all remember this mash-up, right?)

Wednesday star Jenna Ortega has also recently opened up to Collider about what to expect from season 2, and we can apparently an expect an episode dedicated to ‘slasher’ movies. Is this an homage to her time in the Scream franchise?
"Visually, I can say we have some of the most fun we've ever had. It's crazy to talk about one frame like this, but there is a frame of Pugsley rolling his eyes back with this contraption around his head—that's all I can say— and it reminds me so much of Full Metal Jacket. It's insane. So bizarre," she said. “I just feel like there are a lot of scenes and frames, and there's a whole episode based off of slashers, and we make a lot of horror references. So, everything about it, I feel like we kind of had a little bit more trust, and therefore, we felt like we could do bigger, more elaborate sequences, which is nice.”
Wednesday season 2 plot
The official plot synopsis for the second season reads as follows: “Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), returns to prowl the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy, where fresh foes and woes await.
"This season, Wednesday must navigate family, friends and old adversaries, propelling her into another year of delightfully dark and kooky mayhem. Armed with her signature razor-sharp wit and deadpan charm, Wednesday is also plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery”
Meanwhile, showrunner Miles Millar is hoping for the rest of the Addams family to make more of an appearance, telling TVLine: "We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters, and the actors are so amazing in those roles. Catherine is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important."
He added: "[We] definitely want to feature the family as we did this season in a couple of episodes if we were to get a second season."
According to Netflix's Tudum, the show's cast have also confirmed that a new Addams family member will join for season two, with Jenna Ortega's favourite being Cousin Itt. But the identity of the incoming Addams hasn't been officially revealed yet.
Meanwhile, lead actress Jenna also has her own plans on how she'd like her character to evolve, admitting that she would love Wednesday to be bisexual and have a relationship with her roommate Enid. Jenna told PRIDE: "In a perfect world, [Wednesday and Enid] would have been a thing." She also explained to MTV News that she doesn't see her character romantically involved with any men: “Now that Tyler's off the table, I feel like she's off of boys for a while. I feel like her and Xavier are just getting to a safe place. I think there's an opportunity there for a really sweet platonic relationship.”
The trailer also seems to suggest that some creepy dolls will feature this season, and it's unclear if they will be good guys or bad guys.
Wednesday season 2 cast
Jenna will obviously return as Wednesday. We can also expect to see the return of Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.
Now, Thandiwe Newton and Steve Buscemi have joined the ranks. Lady Gaga also joins the cast in an undisclosed role.
Joanna Lumley will also star, and we are stunned by this first look pic demonstrating her amazing gothic look.
According to Deadline, Thora Birch, who was set to play Wednesday's dorm mother, Tamara Novak, in season two had to leave mid-way through filming.
According to sources who spoke to the outlet, Birch had to go home to attend to an illness in the family. It’s also understood that, while she didn’t complete her scenes, she had “finished filming the bulk” of the role. A representative for MGM, who produces the series, told Deadline: “Thora has returned to the States to attend to a personal matter and will not be returning to the production.”
It's not been confirmed if Birch’s scenes will actually make it into the show or whether she will be recast.
What are the filming locations for Wednesday season 2?
Deadline reports that Wednesday season 2 was mostly filmed on location in Ireland, rather than Romania, as we saw in season 1. According to the publication, filming was set to begin in Ireland in April 2024, and Jenna confirmed to Collider that the Wednesday team are still very much “in the edit”.
We're hoping for confirmation of a release date soon!
