The BAFTAs 2024 just co-signed a major spring hair trend with Margot Robbie, Emily Blunt and Emma Stone serving up a different iteration of a wavy bun.
The beauty of this look is its versatility. You can throw your hair up haphazardly to get it off the nape of your neck. Or you can make the style more sculptural by curling each side of the part away from your face for a more elevated feel.
The common theme that ties both interpretations together, however, is a few loose tendrils to frame the face.

One of our favourite wavy buns on the BAFTAs red carpet came courtesy of Margot. While her hairstylist Bryce Scarlett hasn't revealed a full breakdown of the look, it appears to be a loose rosebud bun – where the hair is wound into a bun to replicate the shape of a rose's petals – worn in a centre parting. Either way, it steers Margot's bun away from balletcore predictability and is the perfect complement to her softly-spoken, dusty pink makeup.
Emma's side-parted style, created by celebrity hairstylist Mara Roszak using her eponymous product line, was looser and more free-wheeling. A ‘modern yet ethereal loose braid’ was the brief as Mara created a few waves around Emma's face with a curling iron before loosely pulling the pieces into a braid, securing the ends with a hidden pin. She then gently pulled apart the braid and pinned back any layered pieces. For us, the overall look screamed '90s London girl - artfully undone, tousled and perfectly imperfect.
Like a modern Brigitte Bardot, Emily made a great case for chunky sun-kissed waves tumbling around the face. Her hairstylist Laini Reeves gathered her hair into a loose, romantic updo piled high on the head.
Not a single hair was out of place on Deepika Padukone's wavy bun, save for a few loose tendrils at the back. The secret to this look is to pull the hair back, keeping the volume on the crown. This is red carpet hair at its most classic and elegant.
Pregnant Emily Atack looked radiant cradling her baby bump and showcasing an ombre updo with a wavy centre parting.
