If you're already missing The Traitors after its second season ended and are desperately awaiting a new reality TV high, fear not: rumour has it, the first UK celebrity Traitors might be in the works – and a very famous face is already being lined up to star, apparently.
First reports in January of this year suggested executive producers were considering giving a celeb version of the hit show a push forward, with Stephen Lambert (whose production company brought the Dutch show to UK audiences) telling Global’s The News Agents podcasts: “I think it would be pretty entertaining."
“We talk to the BBC about the future of all our shows and that’s obviously a possibility,” he added, then explaining that it made sense for the US version – which has featured recognisable faces from reality TV already – to use celebrities to hook in viewers. “In Britain, the decision was, maybe we’ll think about celebrities at some stage," he said, acknowledging that the introduction of the series to UK audiences would likely fare better with non-celebs.
While this news gave us nothing concrete (and it's worth noting series 3 of the show is already in the works, with applications being open to the public), the latest rumblings suggest a celebrity version could be a go, and Courteney Cox is in the sights of the producers.
A source has shared with The Sun that the series is looking to feature the Friends star, who is “a fan” of the show and friends with The Traitors UK host, Claudia Winkleman. “Getting Courteney on board would be a real coup,” said the insider.
“The fact the producers have a star from Friends in their sights shows the kind of calibre of famous faces Celebrity Traitors is aiming for," they added. “After the show was announced, producers were swamped with calls from big names and their agents wanting to throw their hat in the ring — many of them a big surprise."
What's more, this wouldn't be the first time Cox would be seen donning the iconic Traitors cloak. In 2023, Courteney helped her friend Claudia promote the upcoming series here in the UK. In the hilarious clip, Claudia is seen telling audiences: “So I have some news — The Traitors series two is coming. Would you like to get involved?”

Cox then lifts her hood and asks, “Claudia, can I please do it?” to which Claudia responds: “I’ve said this to you before, it’s no. You cannot apply if you’re a celebrity or one as famous as this one."
The word ‘foreshadowing’ certainly comes to mind… or so we can hope!
