We’ve got a while to wait for The White Lotus season four, but we might just have a replacement in the meantime. People are already calling the new TV show Two Weeks in August the BBC’s answer to The White Lotus. It has all the same “dream holiday gone wrong” energy.
The cast includes Jessica Raine (Call the Midwife), Damien Molony (The Split), Antonia Thomas (Misfits), Nicholas Pinnock (For Life), Leila Farzad (I Hate Suzie) and Hugh Skinner (W1A).
This gripping drama will keep you on your toes, and might even have you cancelling your own group holiday this summer, or at least inspired to buy a few sundresses of your own. And who knows, this might become an anthology series of its own, with a new cast of talented Brits each season…
It's no Off Campus, but we're having a good time.
To make sure you don’t miss a single moment, here’s everything you need to know about our new favourite show, and where to watch Two Weeks in August.
What is Two Weeks in August about?
The official plot from the BBC reads:
“Set in Greece, Two Weeks in August tells the story of a woman who goes on holiday with her family and friends to rediscover joy in her life. But, in paradise, what starts with an illicit kiss quickly turns the dream vacation into a nightmare.
“Zoe (Jessica Raine) begins to act on her deepest desires and the holiday she hoped for becomes a reckoning for a group of adults who refuse to grow up.
“When they discover they are trapped on the island and faced with real life-or-death situations, the group soon turns on each other to find out who is to blame.
“Is Zoe responsible for the drama and destruction around her, or, as heaven turns to hell, are bigger forces at play? We are in Greece after all, the land of the ancient gods…”
We have no doubt that a lot of drama is on the way. Friendships will die, maybe people too… Buckle up for a wild ride this summer.
