Tattoos are deeply personal and as ever, the most important thing is that you like yours. So first things first, just because trends come and go, this does not mean that your tattoo is out of fashion.
Having said that, certain motifs definitely pick up in popularity each year and trends emerge, making for useful inspiration for when you do want to invest in some ink.
So whether you're on your 10th tattoo or are toying with the idea of your first ever, these are the tattoo trends 2024 will be seeing a lot of.

Short affirmations
Individual letters were a popular tattoo choice in recent years, particularly initials of loved ones, though 2024 will see this replaced by affirmations. Affirmations and positive statements make for a beautiful daily reminder to yourself and we expect to see many similar tattoos this year.

Fineline animal tattoos
Rather than intricate, coloured portraits, delicate lines and minimalist motifs will continue to be all the rage in 2024, with celebrities such as Rita Ora and Kendall Jenner being known fans of these subtle fine line tattoos. The delicate technique lends itself to detailed illustrations of animals or flowers, which we expect to see much more of this year. What we especially love about this trend is that it's versatile and can be adapted to personal preferences.

Tiny tattoos or micro motifs
Goodbye broad lines, hello micro motifs. While larger tattoos with broader lines like mandalas were previously a popular tattoo choice, in 2024 we're following Hailey Bieber's lead. Just before the new year, the model got a tiny tattoo (a mini bow, to be precise), setting the tone for tattoos in 2024.
Tiny tattoos (of which Hailey has quite a few, by the way) and micro motifs are an adorable and adaptable trend, adding intrigue and subtle details.
