So, you've just finished bingeing Off Campus and are looking for more steamy ice hockey content to get stuck into. No judgement here. If the runaway success of Heated Rivalry is anything to go by, we're more than aware that 2026's hottest playing field is actually an ice rink. Amazon Prime's latest addition to the sexy hockey player canon only confirms it. The good news? Off Campus is actually based on a book series – meaning you can dive straight back in without having to wait for a new series.

Here's the thing: there are a lot of Off Campus books out there, including two spin-off series. Author Elle Kennedy is a busy woman! Since the series first launched in 2016, she's published at least one new book a year, meaning there are plenty of intertwining plots, characters and time jumps to contend with if you're new to the series. It also means that reading the Off Campus books in order is essential if you want to avoid spoilers and general confusion. Luckily, we've figured that out for you…

What are the Off Campus books about?

The source material for Amazon Prime's new hit show, Elle Kennedy YA book series, at its core, revolves around three things: hockey, college (AKA university) and romance. In the first book, we meet Hannah and Garrett who begin a fake relationship to make Hannah's crush jealous. Surprise! They end up falling for each other.

This story forms the basis for the TV show's plot, whereas the following books branch out to focus on the relationships of other characters. They all exist in the same universe though – in fact, the same university – so it's not like you have to start over with each book. You'll notice familiar faces and places popping up throughout the entire book series.

How can I read the Off Campus books in order?

For optimum enjoyment, we recommend starting with the original series before branching out into the Kennedy's spin-offs. Here's a complete step-by-step guide to each one.

First: read the original Off-Campus books:

There are five books in the OG Off-Campus series, with each book focusing on a different couple. To get the most out of the world-building and fully immerse yourself in life on campus, you'll want to read them in the order they were published – especially as characters reappear throughout. You'll probably recognise a few of them from the TV series, too…

Book 1: The Deal: This is where it all begins, with the couple we've already seen fall in love on screen, Hannah and Garrett. As we know, there pair start off in a fake relationship, until “one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives". If that doesn't tempt you…

Book 2: The Mistake: In the second book, attention turns to Garrett's best friend, John, who ends up falling for new character Grace. As the synopsis says, “A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.”

Book 3: The Score: Here's where we get to know Hannah's best friend better, AKA Allie. Her beau? Dean Di Laurentis, although she's not 100% sold on him just yet. As per the synopsis, “gorgeous hockey star Dean Di Laurentis is impossible to resist. Just once, though, because even if her future is uncertain, it sure as heck won’t include the king of one-night stands.”

Book 4: The Goal: The fourth book in the series introduces us to the super driven Sabrina, who's main love interest is Tucker from earlier in the book (and TV) series. “The problem is, Sabrina’s heart is locked up tight, and the fiery brunette is too stubborn to accept his help,” teases the synopsis. “If he wants a life with the woman of his dreams, he’ll have to convince her that some goals can only be made with an assist.”

Book 5: The Legacy: The ultimate crossover read, this book features all four couples through individual novellas that show us how they get on post-uni. Picking up three years after graduation, the stories promise “a wedding, a proposal, an elopement and a surprise pregnancy.” We can't think of a more satisfying ending.

Second: read the Briar-U spin-off series

Even though the Off Campus characters stories end happily ever after, that doesn't mean the series come to a close. Shortly after finishing the Off Campus series, Kennedy began publishing Briar-U, a new set of books about a fresh batch of couples. And if you're obsessed with the TV show, these are definitely worth a read: some of the characters from Briar-U have already popped up on screen.

Book 1: The Chase: We start off in familiar territory by following Dean’s sister, Summer, who ends up falling for Colin “Fitzy” Fitzgerald. And the book's synopsis hints at a will-they-won't-they situation: “Fitzy has made it clear he’s not interested in me, even though the sparks between us are liable to burn our house down,” it reads. “I’m not the kind of girl who chases after a man, though, and I’m not about to start. I’ve got my hands full dealing with a new school, a sleazy professor, and an uncertain future. So if my sexy brooding roomie wises up and realizes what he’s missing? He knows where to find me.”

Book 2: The Risk: In the second book we meet Brenna Jensen, the daughter of Briar U's hockey coach, and Jake Connelly, who just so happens to be the captain of Harvard’s hockey team. As Brenna says in the synopsis, “I’d be vilified if I hooked up with a player from a rival team.” And yet…

Book 3: The Play: Hunter Davenport already appears in Amazon Prime's adaptation of Off Campus, but he doesn't get serious attention in the books until now. Here, we see him fall for his new classmate Demi Davis. The problem? She's already got a boy friend.

Book 4: The Dare: The last book in the first spin-off series follows Taylor Marsh, who's dared by her sorority sisters to seduce hockey player Conor Edwards. They end up faking it to save face, but as is a recurring theme in the Off Campus universe, their pretend relationship soon leads to real emotions.

Third: read the Campus Diaries spin-off series

The latest spin-off addition to the Off Campus universe, the Campus Diaries is sort of like the nepo baby series – by which we mean it follows the children of previous couples from the books. And the next gen of hockey-themed romances does not disappoint…

Book 1: The Graham Effect: Naturally, we start off with Hannah and Garrett's daughter, Gigi, who has ambitions to become an Olympic hockey player. The key to helping her make the national team? Luke Ryder, the co-captain of the men's hockey team, with whom she just so happens to have buckets of chemistry.

Book 2: The Dixon Rule: This books zooms in on Gigi's BFF, Diana Dixon, who spends a summer at loggerheads with her neighbour, hockey player Shane Lindley. “What Diana doesn’t realize is that Shane’s sick of hookups and tired of being on the rebound after his long-term girlfriend called it quits. He wants a relationship," reads the synposis. "And when his ex comes back into the picture, he pretends he has one to make her jealous…and who better to play the girlfriend role than his sassy new neighbour?” And we all know what happens to fake relationships in this book series…

Book 3: The Charlie Method: The third and final book in the Campus Diaries series totally shakes up the format by introducing a throuple: superstar STEM student Charlotte Kingston, with hockey players Will Larson and Beckett Dunne. It's all fun and games – until their lives start to unravel. As the synopsis says, “With Charlie, Will, and Beckett all coming to terms with what they want and what others want for them, difficult decisions will need to be made. Especially when lust starts to look a lot like love.”

Fourth: read the new standalone novel Love Song

Released this year, Love Song is another book that turns its attention to the next-gen of Briar U babies, but this time the action takes place – literally – off campus. The story focuses on Hannah and Garrett’s son, Wyatt Graham, and Logan and Grace’s daughter, Blake Logan, who reunite in Tahoe, four years after Blake revealed her crush on Wyatt.

“He’s spent years keeping his distance, convinced he’s all wrong for her, but she’s no longer the innocent girl he once knew," reads the book's synopsis. "She’s confident, captivating, and impossible to ignore. And the slow-burning tension between them? It’s catching fire fast.” Sounds like the perfect beach read.
