The slate of 2025 TV shows is strong. It's been a BIG year for the small screen so far. 2025's beginning saw the return of reality TV hit The Traitors, James Norton's baby swap ITV drama Playing Nice, followed by shocking true story Apple Cider Vinegar being given the Netflix treatment.
Both Lena Dunham and Derry Girls' Lisa McGee's new TV shows still to come, as well as a documentary from the queen herself, Victoria Beckham. Plus, you shouldn't be sleeping on newer releases such as Michelle Williams' Dying For Sex and queer comedy series Overcompensating.
The actor opened up to GLAMOUR about that Golden Globes nomination, making space for trans people and women on set and working with Selena Gomez.

Overcompensating
With music from Charli XCX and a true-to-life story of a closeted university student trying to survive and thrive, Overcompensating is the coming-of-age queer drama we just knew we needed.

The White Lotus
TV's best satire on the rich and greedy returned for its third series in 2025. Starring Sex Education's Aimee Lou Wood, Walton Goggins, Parker Posey, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb, Sarah Catherine Hook, as well as Natasha Rothwell who returns as Belinda, the latest season has polarised fans and critics and is unmissable for this reason and many more.

Dying for Sex
Starring Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate, Dying for Sex tells the incredible, empowering true story of Molly Kochan who leaves her husband after being diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, in order to go on a journey of sexual discovery.

The latest Harlan Coben novel adaptation is coming. The last one – Fool Me Once, starring Michelle Keegan – was a huge hit, so Missing You is definitely one to have on your radar. It follows the story of detective Kat Donovan (played by Slow Horses star Rosalind Eleazar), whose estranged partner shockingly reappears many years later on a dating app. Twists and turns follow.

The Traitors season 3
Does this TV series need any introduction? The hit show is back in 2025 for a third season, seeing a new group of contestants move into a Scottish castle, with a smaller group of “traitors” living among them, tasked to eliminate the rest. Winner gets a maximum prize of £120,000.

Playing Nice
Starring Niamh Algar, Jessica Brown Findlay and Joy star James Norton (who also produces), Playing Nice tells the story of two couples who discover that their babies were swapped at birth. As they reel from this revelation and get to know their respective sons, the couples begin to suspect that darker intentions might be at play.

High Potential
From the writer behind The Good Place and starring Kaitlin Ohlson, this series sees a single mum solve crimes with her “exceptional mind” and a friendship with a seasoned detective. Lots and lots of fun and games.

Miss Austen
Keeley Hawes and Game of Thrones' Rose Leslie star in a TV adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name, which explores the life of Jane Austen's elder sister Cassandra (played by Hawes) and her mission to find and destroy some of Jane's letters, which she believes will destroy her late sister's reputation.

Netflix is bringing to our screens a crazy real-life story that dives deep into the world of influencer and wellness culture. Kaitlyn Dever plays Australian wellness influencer Belle Gibson, who built a brand based on curing her brain cancer with various health-related methods and not through medical treatment. The TV series follows the fact this campaign turned out to be a complete fraudulent lie – our prediction for one of the top 2025 TV shows.

Adolescence
Starring The Crown's Erin Doherty and Stephen Graham, Adolescence tells the story of a family who grapple with their teenage son's arrest for murdering a girl who goes to his school. It highlights the very real epidemic of violence against women and girls (VAWG), so we're intrigued to watch.

The Studio
Starring Seth Rogen and Schitt's Creek star Catherine O'Hara and Kathryn Hahn, The Studio tells the story of a movie studio head (Rogen) who struggles to juggle creative ambitions for his movies with corporate drama and demands. Bryan Cranston, Zac Efron, Martin Scorsese and even Usher are also due to appear, a truly star-studded event and deep dive into celebrity culture.

How To Get To Heaven From Belfast
The latest TV offering from Derry Girls creator sees three old friends reunited at the wake of their friend Greta, which leads them on a journey across Ireland to solve a mystery. Starring Roisin Gallagher, Caoilfhionn Dunne and Sinéad Keenan, it's set to explore female friendship in your 30s.

Toxic Town
Jodie Whittaker, Aimee Lou Wood and Bridgerton's Claudia Jessie are set to star in a shocking true life story about one of the UK's biggest environmental scandals. They will play three mothers who took on their council, and eventually the High Court, on the dumping of toxic waste in their hometown.

Too Much
The Girls creator is back with her next TV project, centred around a workaholic named Jessica in New York City, who is reeling from a break up and withdrawing from her life. Then she meets Felix, described as a “walking series of red flags”, who she forges an unusual connection with. What will this new meet cute bring? We can't wait to find out.

All Her Fault
Starring Succession's Sarah Snook and Dakota Fanning and based on the novel by Irish author Andrea Mara, All Her Fault tells the story of Marissa Irvine (Snook), who goes to pick up her son from a play date, to have the woman who answers (who we believe is played by Fanning) to tell her that he isn't there.

House of VB
We cannot wait for this promised deep dive into the former Spice Girls' personal world and her fashion and beauty business ventures, as well as being treated to never-before-seen archives of her sartorial journey. She's set to give us an up-close look at family life with David, following his hit Netflix documentary Beckham.

After finding huge success on stage, this story of football legend Gareth Southgate's journey with the England men's football team will now be adapted for TV and is expected in 2025. The Handmaid's Tale star Joseph Fiennes will star as Southgate.
