Margot Robbie just stepped on the red carpet of the 2024 BAFTAs, and we are breathless. Her presence could not be missed; after all, she was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for Barbie. Add to that the other three categories in which the film is competing tonight, and this award show could be very promising for the entire cast.
Robbie's name became synonymous with the word ‘Barbie’ ever since it was announced that she would be starring in Greta Gerwig's film, and we have her to thank for reviving our passion for the colour pink. After its spectacular premiere last summer, absolutely everything that had to do with Mattel's most famous doll became a phenomenon.
On 18 February, she arrived at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards in a retro-spirited two-tone dress. The Royal Festival Hall in London lit up as Margot Robbie hit the red carpet in the gown, featuring baby pink (naturally) and black.
The contrast is not only of colours; it is also of textures, as it has a satin fabric in the centre and embroidered sequins on the sides. The design, which has a fitted waist and straight fall, made her look like a life-size Barbie and gave her a retro touch with opera gloves that have been back in style since 2022.
We can't stop talking about her hairstyle either, as she wore a sophisticated updo that practically screamed, “BAFTAs night is mine!” Her makeup was kept understated but very well done. She wore luminous skin, well-lined eyebrows and nude lips. She finished the whole look with long earrings.
As we wait to find out who will take home the award tonight, there is no doubt: Margot Robbie has already won in style.
