The final trailer for Mamma Mia 2 was released earlier this month and left us pretty damn excited. If you missed it, here it is...

And now, Cher, who is the megastar of the new film, has given us an insight into her friendship with co-star, Meryl Streep, and how the film re-united them.

Speaking to Harper's Bazaar about how the pair forged their friendship, she said: "I met her for the first time in a sushi place in Texas when we were working on Mike Nichols’s Silkwood. I walked in, and she came over and hugged me and said, 'I’m so glad you’re here.'

"We were together all the time after that. We used to go to the movies on Sundays. When I was in New York, I would go to her house every day."

What we'd give to be in the same room as these two.

Ten years after the first film’s release, Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth all confirmed that they'd be regrouping for the sequel, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again.

Ten years after Mamma Mia! The Movie grossed more than $600 million around the world, we're heading back to the magical Greek island of Kalokairi in an all-new original musical based on the songs of ABBA.

Reprising their roles from Mamma Mia! The Movie are Academy Award winner Meryl Streep as Donna, Julie Walters as Rosie and Christine Baranski as Tanya. Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper reunite as Sophie and Sky, while Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård and Oscar winner Colin Firth return to play Sophie’s three possible dads: Sam, Bill and Harry. Talk about an all-star cast!

But the jaw-dropping cast does not stop there, one major star is obviously joining the crew in the musical movie... CHER!

The iconic singer will lend her voice and acting skills to Mamma Mia 2. Back in October, Cher took to Twitter to tease her new project, sharing photos of some 80s worthy boots, the title of an ABBA song and then breaking the news that she was already rehearsing.

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! "goes back and forth in time to show how relationships forged in the past resonate in the present". That would explain the need for younger versions of the main characters, then.

The release date is July 20 2018, and ABBA hits that weren't used in the first film, including Knowing Me, Knowing You and Waterloo, will reportedly feature on the song list.

We. Can't. Wait.
