Last year gave us peach girl summer, and before that, there was strawberry girl, but if you're wondering what the 2025 makeup shades are that this year has in store, you've come to the right place.
Pinterest has released it's “Pinterest Palette” – a line-up of colour trend predictions based on the biggest search terms. And, the platform is pretty confident they're on top of the headliners given their top prediction for last year, mocha brown, emerged as one of the undisputed leaders of 2024 (and inspired 2025's Pantone of the year, mocha mousse).
There are some repeat performers (expect to see butter yellow bathe in even more sunlight) and some obvious contenders. Cherry red, for instance, will probably come as no surprise. It led trends through autumn and winter, but the juicy shade has plenty more to give in spring and summer. Searches around the shade are up 235% year on year with brands like Glossier spotlighting the tone with the launch of its Black Cherry collection. But, get ready for a couple of curveballs, too. Dill green, in particular, is here to keep things interesting (more on that below).
Luckily, we've rounded up all the inspo you could need for each, so, here are the 2025 makeup shades you need to know…
Butter Yellow
Last spring saw butter yellow take off in the fashion-sphere, it even infiltrated beauty trends with butter glazed Frenchies and butter blonde gaining momentum, but 2025 is doubling down on the colour. Searches for “yellow outfit inspo” are up 225%, while “butter yellow nails” boast a whopper 1825% increase.

Aura Indigo
Described by Pinterest as “lilac, but with an edge”, the mysterious shade leans into the dark siren and sea witchery movements that have been hustling for fans for the past couple of seasons. It's a little cosmic and ethereal, but it manages to feel equal parts cute and sultry. Searches for “purple core” are up 120% and “purple lavender aesthetic” pulled in 175% more interest.

Cherry Red
We've spoken about our obsession with cherry red before. Balancing both the dark feminine energy of black cherry tones, while also tapping up the juicy strawberry and raspberry shades that trend each summer, cherry red has range. In it's Pinterest Predicts report, the platform spotlit 'cherry coded’ as a major trend to watch in 2025, noting "gen Z and millennials will infuse cherries into their makeup, menus and mood-boards this year.
Searches for “dark cherry red” led the charge with searches up 235% heading into the beginning of the year, while “cherry vibe” also saw a 325% search increase.

Dill Green
We love an offbeat awkies colour moment and this pickled shade fits the bill. It's infiltrating our lifestyle more widely with “pickle margarita” up by 100% and who can forget Dua Lipa's pickle juice and Coca-Cola combo, but dill green is also an absolute vibe when it comes to 2025 beauty looks.

Alpine Oat
The vanilla girl aesthetic has had rebrand. Introducing 2025's new neutral, alpine oat. The trend is here for the minimalists who love a cosy cream boucle armchair, a milky latte and a pared-back beauty look. Again, this stretches across interiors, outfits and makeup routines with searches for “beige aesthetic” up 35% and “neutral outfits” up 145%.
